I don't know why any of this surprises people. In politics, if your opposition places you in a position where you have to defend an already weak policy, then you just stifle discussion and change the subject. The left makes everything racial. The right makes everything a matter of patriotism.

The really sad part about people calling someone who disagrees with Obama a racist is that it takes away from real racism. We do have racism in America, but disagreeing with Obama is not. I hear that word now and just roll my eyes because it is tossed around so much.
