Glad all the evidence is being aired out for the history books, but our descendants are going to be puzzled at allowing Trump and his merry band of traitors get away with this (as they will). Oh well, every American era has its mistakes; this will be one of ours.

It doesn't say "When the President of the United States is impeached the Chief Justice shall preside."

It says "When the President of the United States is tried the Chief Justice shall preside."

If it's important that the "House impeached him while he was in office" then shouldn't he be tried under the same procedures as if he were President?

Did the Schumer give a reason for why the Chief Justice wasn't presiding?

Shouldn't the person presiding be unbiased (Leahy already voted to impeach)? Will Trump get a fair trial with Leahy presiding? Do you care if the trial is fair?

The Republicans wouldn’t allow it while Trump was still in office. McConnell said it pretty plainly.

Even in small ways, the guy just can't be honest. He's got to fudge and lie. Like I watched his January 6 speech on Youtube. He spent a bunch of time talking about how he got 75 million votes. Later he said Biden got 80 million votes and expressed skepticism.

But here is the thing: Trump got 74,222,960 votes. Biden got 81,283,361 votes. So if you're going to just speak in terms of "million votes" Trump got 74 million votes while Biden got 81 million votes. But Trump had to overstate how many he got and understate how many Biden got. He just can't help himself. He's constantly trying to create false impressions.

Not some impeachments. Not impeachments with enough time for trial before they leave office. All impeachments. The House impeached him while he was in office. I'm not sure how *all* impeachments would not apply to this one.
