The Twinkies better not lose this. I hate the Yankees and the Twins have a habit of collapsing for the Yankees in the past. Git 'er done.Gil Dobie wrote:HR Record Chase

Jordan Zimmerman is 1-12 (6.85 ERA) this year. He's being paid $25 million. May have been a mistake by the Tigers in signing him.

Typical Twins - look good most of the way, and then near the end they find a way to lose to the Yankees.Gil Dobie wrote:HR Record Chase

Re: 2019 Official Baseball Season Thread
Right now it probably is. Division races are snoozes, only the AL wild card is in doubt and it's down to 3 teams for 2 spots, and no one really thinks any of the wild card teams have a shot against the biggies in either league (apparently the Astros are good again, who saw that coming?). Maybe the playoffs will wake up baseball but we might have to wait for the LCS's or even the World Series to wake things up. And even then if it's just launch angles and exit velocities it might sleep all the way to next season.89Hen wrote:Is this HR chace really the biggest story in MLB?

I think the Nats, if they win the WC game, have the tools to beat the Dodgers.

Yes, but they have a lot of baggage too. No lead safe with them.... either way.dbackjon wrote:GannonFan wrote:

Until they show me they won't flameout in a playoff series, I'll habitually write them off. They've never come out of the wild card game before, so maybe this will be a year of new things for the Nats.89Hen wrote:Yes, but they have a lot of baggage too. Same went for the Caps until two years ago.GannonFan wrote:Until they show me they won't flameout in a playoff series, I'll habitually write them off. Had the Nats not had the recent swoon and gotten beaten time and time again by the Bravos, I might feel like this is the year. But their only chance is to face the Dodgers then Cards. But even typing that makes me realize it aint gonna happen. 2012 still stings. One out away from NLCS.

Re: 2019 Official Baseball Season Thread
I will say as a Nats fan, there have been a LOT of great moments for the Nats even without the playoff series win. I saw all of these with the exception of a few of the double digit walk-offs:
- Scherzer 20 strikeout game...
- Scherzer no hitter that was really a perfect game (I doubt that asshole can sleep at night) and it was a game after a 1 hitter complete game. 18 innings, 1 hit, 1 BB, 1 hit by pitch, 0 ER...
- Strasburg 14 K debut...
- ZImmermann no hitter on a diving catch for the last out
- Tons of Ryan Zimmerman walk-off HR's...
- Harper home run derby at home...
- Werth walk-off in Game 4 of 2012 NLDS...

AL Wild Card is nearly set with Cleveland's loss last night. Tampa and Oakland both two games up on the Tribe with four to go.

Re: 2019 Official Baseball Season Thread
That's part of the snooze-fest - besides there being no real races down the stretch, the only one involves the perfect trifecta of markets of Oakland/Tampa/Cleveland. Good teams, no doubt, but not markets that move the needle.AshevilleApp wrote:AL Wild Card is nearly set with Cleveland's loss last night.
