Denial ... a term often used by those engaged in histrionics.

Exactly. Democracy was never in peril on 1/6/21. Never.
But anyone who listens to the msm probably thinks it was.

Anyone who claims that Jan 6 was a “threat to democracy” should outline exactly how that is.
Please explain for me the mechanism by which a bunch of MAGAtard hicks were going to end our democracy by overturning the election - by storming the capitol building.
I’ll wait

I will of course neither be surprised nor all that heartbroken if the Dems get their asses handed to them. But a 20 year wilderness trip prediction is even less likely than your DeSantis dream.

This country's voting populace is so fickle and so easily swayed and so ill-informed I can envision a bloodbath in 2022 and still seeing the Rep's lose seats (and possibly the presidential election) in 2024.

They probably weren’t, but that coupled with what Team Trump was doing is a bit unsettling. Navarro just recently suggested that the terrorists (oops, I mean patriots) fucked up their plans.CID1990 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 3:56 pm Anyone who claims that Jan 6 was a “threat to democracy” should outline exactly how that is.

I’ll give you an outline when you outline what would have happened if the mob had caught up with Pelosi, AOC, Romney, or Pence.
Or what would have happened if Pence had decided to not certify?

Re: January 6 - How much do you care?
The only threat to democracy we’be had in the last 5 years is from your side trying to overthrow a duly elected president by concocting a Russian collusion narrative that was a complete fabrication by the Clinton campaign, the donk aligned media, and deep state democrat actors within the FBI, with their coup attenpt culminating with a complete sham of an impeachment.kalm wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 8:52 am I had to think about this and was interested to see the replies before I voted.
I went with a 10.
Any threats to democracy are concerning. If this was just a bunch of uppity yahoo’s causing a ruckus that would go away quickly it would be one thing. This was far more than that, beginning with the efforts by Trump and his minions to subvert the election results and continuing a year later with an uncomfortably large amount of people still in denial including elected officials and military and law enforcement types.
It’s the kind of shit that we, as a nation, supposedly steeped in the ideals of fair elections, peaceful debate, etc. should collectively and unequivocally renounce.
Crisis periods in history often mean rapid (and uncomfortable) change along with lost faith in institutions. That explains much of this, but history should also teach us to be aware of what has happened before and what could happen again if we don’t take it seriously.
We shouldn’t be remotely close to these kind of internal threats.

Well based on the way everyone behaved who actually went inside, they’d probably all have gotten a stern talking to.

You asked a question nobody can answer.... what would have happened if the mob had caught up with Pelosi, AOC, Romney, or Pence? Nobody knows. There, I answered. Now give the outline.

I’ll give you an outline when you outline what would have happened if the mob had caught up with Pelosi, AOC, Romney, or Pence.
Or what would have happened if Pence had decided to not certify?
Is that what you call a 10 on your Richter Scale of handwringing?
Even though you predictably deflected and refused to answer the question, I’ll tell you what may have happened if the mob had caught up to AOC or Pelosi or Romney - they certainly would have been assaulted, maybe even killed. But that is just speculation AND it is immaterial. Just as when a leftist nut opened fire on a baseball practice with the intent of killing Republicans- the business of government would have carried on just as it did then.
Pence’s certification was a formality and not a requirement because the question would have expeditiously moved to SCOTUS just as it did when Democrats tried their own “stop the steal” in 2000.
But back to my original question which you predictably avoided answering -
Tell me the mechanism that would have allowed the Jan 6 mob in the capitol building to allow Trump to remain in office. Because if that isn’t the Threat To Democracy TM you are voting a 10 on (over being a bit unsettled) I’m not sure what is.
Again, I’ll wait
