So Lawfare missed a rule and now Reps get to call a witness they want? Gotta see how this plays out.

Playing footsie with them over NATO membership is what precipitated their troubles in the first place. Now we give them military aid.
Ultimately, every single foreign policy professional who has credibly testified in the impeachment hearings about how the “real” foreign policy was being conducted by FP professionals .... while Rudy, et al were conducting their own parallel “diplomacy”... every one of them has been working out of a position that Ukraine needs aid to counter Russia. Which lead to them need more aid down the road. And then more and more.

Doesn't change the fact that Biden was bragging after successfully conducting official business for the interests of the United States. Unlike your boy who has his personal attorney doing unaccountable shadow-diplomacy for the interests of one person (himself). But hey, nice to see you'll be defending the next donk President asking foreign nations to investigate rivals based on their fantasy conspiracies.SeattleGriz wrote:This is the first time you have seen this video?

Re: The Trump Whistleblower Extravaganza Thread
If it was about investigating corruption, then why bring up the 2016 election, a conspiracy theory and your political opponent. The problem that I see, is that in the transcript, I see President Z ask for aid and then Trump go into Biden. He doesn't talk about national security or Russia or anything like that. He talks about Burisma(which is Biden, let's be honest), Crowdstrike and a conspiracy theory about the 2016 election that goes against what his own government and the GOP have concluded.SeattleGriz wrote:Why is investigating corruption a problem if a political opponent committed a crime?Ibanez wrote: Why’s an investigation into a political opponent pertinent in the release of aid?

That was my point. IF what Rudy has said is true, does it still mean Joe cannot be investigated just because he is a political opponent?
Does it ever become okay to investigate Biden?
Investigate corruption. Do it. Biden, Obama, Trump, etc... i don't care who gets caught up. But don't tie it do foreign aid and don't do it through your personal lawyer. He has a major bureaucracy at his disposal and he goes to Rudy? You have to see that something fishy is going on. Mulvaney already confirmed as much.
Now, answer my question sir.

It doesn't ring a bell. I've heard about it, but I hadn't seen the actual video.SeattleGriz wrote:This is the first time you have seen this video?Ibanez wrote:
Ok. What’s that got to do with Trump asking a foreign government to open an investigation that has no bearing on American foreign policy or is in its national interests?
Follow up question, since that’s the favor Trump requested in order to provide money and military aid, how does an investigation into Biden a national security issue? Furthermore, if Biden's alleged actions were so nefarious why did it take until 2019 for it to be discovered?
How does the announcement of an investigation into Burisma or Biden benefit America? I fail to see the connection.
Another follow up - if that’s from 2006 (which I thought this occurred DURING the Obama administration) why haven’t the Republicans cared to investigate or compel the Biden's to testify? For that matter, why aren’t the Biden's being investigated now since the GOP holds the Senate and Lindsey Graham chairs the committee that would call for that testimony?
How does it benefit the US to get a corrupt person fired in a country where we are fighting a proxy war against the Russians? And who in 2019 benefits from this sudden desire to get to the truth? It deserves an answer. If Biden abused his power, he should be held accountable.
I have been listening to more Fox News and Rush than I care to admit and I have yet to hear a serious, legitimate reason why it's in America's best interest to figure out if Biden abused his office in getting someone fired 5 years ago.
So it brings us back to my questions, bolded above.

IMO it doesn’t matter. Biden isn’t in office now and probably won’t be in the future if he keeps sounding like a doddering old man in the debatesIbanez wrote:CID1990 wrote:

LOTS of spouses, children and sibling capitalize on their officeholder parents ... from national office all the way down to the local
It will never change because both sides want to criticize it only when someone from the other side is doing it
It just amuses me that the son of a VPOTUS could be paid 50k a month by a Slavic country petro company and anyone could try to assert that the kid had the job for anything other than to curry favor and influence with the parent

Serious question:
Trump and the Republicans have said this impeachment inquiry is illegal, unconstitutional,etc... and for those reasons they are not allowing/discouraging people from testifying. Is that correct?
So would the fact that Trump now says he wants a trial, legitimize the impeachment inquiry and remove one of the main arguments for not cooperating?
Logically, am I understanding that correctly?

Re: The Trump Whistleblower Extravaganza Thread
Trying to apply logic to anything that Trump does is just going down the wrong road. As for the Senate trial, I'm sure they'll try to tie it up as long as they can now - that way they force Democratic Presidential candidates who are Senators to sit in Washington for much of the time being able to say anything while in session, and at the end when he's not removed from office he can have a press conference and say he was totally exonerated. I just know he'll try to suck up all the air in the room and dominate all the press covering during that time. It's what he does.Ibanez wrote:I agree. Except, they apparently missed a rule that will essentially allow the Reps to run the hearings for a day as the minority. Of course we know Schiff won't allow that.
