I will say this right now. If, and that is a super huge if, the Griz win the BSC, they will be given a 1st Class butt whoopin' in the prelims of the 64.AZGrizFan wrote:Admit it. And the only positive thing to come out of it would be watching the meltdown of the Weber State fanbase.

Oh, I have NO illusions....in fact they would lose convincingly to just about any team they were matched up against in the play-in game (and they would DEFINITELY be in the play-in game)....but I had given this team up for dead LONG ago....but it seems like they're only MOSTLY dead...grizzaholic wrote:I will say this right now. What makes you so absolutely certain of that, grizza? The Griz have a history of making noise at the NCAAs. Perhaps not so much as Weber, but noise nonetheless. A decent draw, some hard work, and some luck could see the Griz in the Sweet Sixteen or farther. Why dwell on the possibility of being on the wrong end of a blowout? Once the NCAAT starts, everything's a crapshoot....grizzaholic wrote:I will say this right now. Hornets cruise to a home win against SUU tonight in the Nest making the BSC log jam that much bigger.

Sweet Jesus, man. Put down the crack pipe. This is the worst Griz team in at LEAST 6-8 years....IF (and that's a big if) they manage through some miracle of miracles to actually MAKE the tourney, they will get blasted. Really, really REALLY good Griz teams have gotten blasted the past several years.

Well, at least you bothered to explain WHY, AZ. Grizza just made the bald assertion. Having seen what the Griz have done in the past, that sounded rather fishy. Your explanation eliminates that "fishiness."

Re: Big Sky Basketball - 2013-14
Um, Weber fans couldn't care less about women's basketball (do a search on the wildcat forum about women's ball), or about what the announce crew says about women's basketball programs.SuperHornet wrote:I am. Weber's announce crew on the OTHER game was going off about how a 14-5 team stinks so bad that "anybody" could beat them. And that's a team that had ALREADY broken the BSC single-game team scoring record once already this season. They were freaking out after the Hornets proceeded to do it AGAIN that very night....

Re: Big Sky Basketball - 2013-14
I caught most of the second half of the PSU-Sac game. I'm STILL mad the tipoff time got changed on me. (It was originally set for two, but ended up being 1:05.) From just the 15 min and change I saw, Sac DID show some defensive weakness in that they had problems defending both the backdoor play and dribble penetration by the guards...IF PSU could get past the outside ball harassment. The problem for PSU was that was a HUGE IF. Many of Sac's second half points came off Viking turnovers caused by said ball harassment. But the failure to watch the back door is generally what kept the Vikings in the game. They were unable to do that as much as was apparently necessary to get the job done, though. Sac's penchant for draining 3-bombs was also a key defensive problem for PSU. There was a bit of home cooking from the officials, but nowhere near enough to blame the loss on that. For the remainder of the season, PSU has to control the ball and defend the three-ball better, and Sac must be more aware of the back door and disrupting dribble penetration.

PSU needs a ton of help to make the tourney since they're 3 games back with 6 to go. Gotta wonder how long Murrell still has given they're looking at 3 straight tourney misses, not to mention the frequent rumors of friction between her and the team.SuperHornet wrote:I caught most of the second half of the PSU-Sac game. Sac should still get in the tournament, but their longevity is questionable given how their depth has been reduced. They were able to deal with Parrish's absence, but adding further injuries on top of that has hurt them. If they can shoot close to 40%, they tend to win, but if they're down closer to 30% the turnover margin advantages just aren't enough.

Why's that, Cat? Our schools have won first round games before. What makes it a done deal before the brackets are even close to being out that a Sky school is an auto-loser in the first round? I think I'd want to see the bracket first....
