Denying the 2020 election was ridiculous. So was the 2016 election denial, but nobody seems to talk about that. You actually had sitting members of Congress who refused to certify the election claiming the election was stolen. The 2016 candidate claimed Trump was illegitimate, and please don't get me started on Stacy Abrams.kalm wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 7:45 amYou’ll defend him when he applies common sense to government? I'll go there all day long. Unlike you, I'll defend him when necessary. On policies, idea, or directives that are common sense. I will also point out the ridiculous like trying to make Canada the 51st state or annexing Greenland.
I could also break it down to the many demonstrable and unhidden ways he in no way threatens democracy, but as usual, you would never listen.
The deep state shadow cabal running the government was immensely powerful, but nobody said they were smart. They anointed (not elected) a half-drunk nitwit cackling clown as their Manchurian nominee. They were infinitely more of a threat to democracy than Donald Trump could ever be.
Pick any fascist dictator/strong man leader in history and you’ll find at least a little common sense. However, 2020 election denial, pardoning J6ers, suing media outlets who cast him in an unfavorable light, pulling funding from research universities, claiming Ukraine started the war, attempting to gut the DOJ and FBI, withholding federal funds like FEMA aid to states governed against his issues, permitting ICE to violate due process and deporting accused illegal AND legal immigrants to domestic and foreign prisons, eliminating or slashing funding to entire government agencies he disagrees with, taking personal conttol of the FEC and SEC…(the list goes on.) are more important than visiting the aftermath of the Texas Floods.
The vast majority of J6ers did hard time and/or had their lives ruined by the DOJ for committing the horrible crime of trespassing. That's very fascisty.
It is a shame that Trump is suing these 'media' outlets, but it's also interesting that they all are settling the cases right before the discovery process. I wonder why??? I wonder what they're hiding?
I could go on and on, but I just don't have the time.
Every serious scholar agrees with you? JFC, you sound as narcissistic at Trump.klam wrote:Now, you can try and argue whether you think any of these actions are anti-democratic or fascist in nature. I think taken together and in view of historical and recent authoritarian leaders they obviously do. Has it affected me personally yet? No. But I give a shit about EVERYONE’s rights and our standing as a democracy, a free press, non partisan federal spending, science based policies, etc. so to get even remotely close fascism is unacceptable.
Every serious scholar who’s made it their life’s work to study these things agrees with me.
There is a long list of 'serious scholars' who absolutely do not agree with you. I'm sure you feel they really aren't all that serious because they don't agree with you, right?
