Can you imagine an all-CAA final? *vomit* The coattail riders will be worse than ever before

Oregon better beat Auburn or the FBS mesage boards will be even worse (again)

When did Appy State's offense become 'throw it 65 times a game"?

They've left a lot of points on the field. Five times in the red zone, 20 points.

We have a winner!

Several people said the CAA can't play offense...too slow...and that their defenses were never tested because their stats came against those offenses. Well, nova just put up a truck load of points on the SoCon champs and the Southland champs. UD put up 40 on the Patriot champs. UNH put up 40+ on the MEAC champs.

Only W&M, with their rotating QBs, could not score outside the conference.

Good job nova...simply beat the snot out of the Mountaineers in all phases of the game.

Amazing how much time nova had to throw - never got real pressure on the QB all day. About halfway through the first quarter it was like the UNI/Lehigh game all over again - I watched that one hoping to play UNI because they were so bad. Appy is a very good team, but I would've loved for Devlin to have all day to throw against them too. Oh well.

Anyone hear the one Appy fan scream, "Break his legs!" when #4 was running the ball in the 4th? Class act...though every team has those types of fans. :ohno:

I think people who follow FCS know that the CAA seems to have no offense because the defenses are strong.

Something that has become readily apparent is the higher population density of the east coast is allowing the CAA to fill both sides of the roster with some big boys. I know we struggle after the Pac 10 cleans house to find the size.

Yeah, if you heard that at last night's game, that was me. ;)

But seriously, I had to tell a guy behind me to shut up last night after he rode Ed Wagner all night (we're only four rows behing him and he could clearly hear it). Finally the same guy told Mike Perry "you suck, kid" and I turned around and just told the guy to stop.

Nova was actually 4th in the CAA: W&M, UD, UNH, Nova, if you count the UNH head to head. But if Szczur hadn't gotten hurt, Nova would have finished at least 9-2/7-1. Still might have lost to W&M (that 31-24 wasn't as close as the score indicated with the 2 late Nova 4th qtr TDs), but yeah, if Sczur doesn't get hurt, Nova at least ties for a share of the CAA title and is at least the #3 seed instead of UD.

2008.

Though, we still decide to rely on the run sometimes... like last week (only 7 attempted passes by DP).

A lot of fans on MMB are pissed off with the coaching. It wasn't perfect... but, we lost because we were manhandled upfront on offense and defense. Just like last year at Montana.

I said it when App first started the spread and was dominant. Give the D's a year or two and the spread won't be nearly as deadly. Now that the D's have a better grasp, you are seeing how App's lack of size is hurting them.

Not smacking App, because Montana has the same issue. Tough to get a full squad of big guys. Hell, our best defensive guy was a transfer from the U of Washington. 290 lb DT and injured halfway through the season.

Thats because you had the best o-lineman and o-line in the CAA, and probably all of I-AA, up front:
LT #71 Sr Ijalana 6'4/320- all world
LG #67 Sr Clouser 6'2/305 1st team All CAA
C #50 So Shirey 6'2/290 3rd team All CAA
RG #75 rFr Bucci 6'5/345
RT #79 So Ekweozor 6'5/320

Thats about an avg of 6'3.5"/316. Nova runs more to the left hand side behind those 2 seniors, and get the majority of the yardage behind those 2. Even a lot of their yardage that comes off the right hand side comes when they move Ijalana and Clouser to the right, or move Ijalana to the right going unbalanced right.

I just watched the line of scrimmage when Nova had the ball, and I saw alot of ASU front 7 getting either pushed off the line of scrimmaged, sealed, or pancaked, blowing open holes, esp by #71. When they dominate like that, Whitney, Ball and Babarro are going to look really good, and a healthy Sczur is going to have a field day.

I agree with you.

We heard all Summer about how we had implement a package for DP to be under center. We ended up running it twice (that I can think of) all year. I'd really like to see us start to edge back towards what kind of football I've always loved-- bruising, tough running between the tackles and a hardnosed defense... We've gotten to finesse, imo. 2005 and 2006 we weren't nearly as finesse.
