Yeah, he's a pussy. At least I was .24 when the cop had to jump the curb with his patrol car and just miss a gas pump to avoid a head-on with my truck. :coffee:

Heck, these guys don't even go out until 11 or later - I'm in bed soon thereafter these days.

Thanks for the fresh new look on the subject and the advice but I'll go ahead and take my chances if I feel like it. As catbob said .11 ain't nothin' son.

The thread on AGS is getting sad with people taking the bait over and over and starting with the moral authority stuff and the "according to my sources" stuff.

The way the law reads in SC, it's a misdemeanor on 1st offense. He pays a $900 fine and then spends 2-30 days in jail OR does 48 hours community service. I'm guessing he'll plead for the community service or if he's lucky, for the charges to be reduced or dropped completely. There's no extra charges like resisting arrest or serving to a minor so that bodes well for him.

Once his injury heals 100%, I expect him to be counting stadium steps and speak to schools about the dangers of drinking and driving and maybe a game suspension.

And that would be sensible punishment. Acting all fucking superior about this kind of shit shows a some real character flaws in people if they are being serious. You give a guy a chance to rectify the situation and jump through his hoops of punishment and then you move on treating them with respect. Sitting in judgment and demonizing someone over shit like this does not give them a message that IF they work on it they can redeem.

We've got some Griz fans that like that too T Dog.

T Dog is right - the AGS thread is like reading a Liberty university condemnation with the exception of John St. Wronge making his usual asinine statements. The kid screwed up, fessed up, and will deal with the consequences. He's been called a thug - he looks like it, but he didn't jack somebody's TV or mug their grandmother. Jerry will deal with it in due time. Hate to lose him for a suspension ,but an example needs to be set.
For the record, ASU has a pretty tight ship when it comes to this crap relative to other places. The GSU guys on AGS need to note that they live in a glass house before casting stones.

At least he didn't rob anybody.......

But seriously, we all screw up at some point, and once he does his punishment, I don't think anyone will remember this.

Calling him a thug for a DWI is retarded (fuck you Sarah Palin). Seriously, I haven't been on AGS to read the thread there, but come on. I can't stand self-righteous pricks.

I haven't cast any stones at App other than to get a good natured dig at both App and Furman over this but please enlighten us as to the recent transgressions of GSU players that have involved law enforcement.

WOW, im dissapointed in some of you. You guys need to understand that these guys arent just players, they're young men. Cliche', I know but its true. These guys are great athletes then when they get a dui everybody wants to act like this mthafcka didnt sell his life to the game in order to win NC's, so that you fat, unathletic, nobodys can celebrate. It comes with the territory, if you want a team full of off-the-field-angels, be prepared to sit in last place you dck-riding, bandwagon-jumping bstards!

Screw off BF - I'm proud of my boy for getting his drink on, but upset that he will likely miss some playing time because of it. I don't condone what he did drinking and driving, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't done the same thing. The difference is that I don't run a sub 5 second 40, I'm not a good punt returner, and I'm not one of App's better receivers.
I'm sure this stuff never, EVER happens in Cheney.

Agree. Quite frankly, I'm more embarrassed by him not passing a field sobriety test at .11 after drinking girly drinks than I am about the ticket...but that's just me.
I think "flunking" a field sobriety test is virtually meaningless. At http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/Drivin ... 96613.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; you can find this quote:

A study conducted by scientists at Clemson University involved showing police officers videotapes of individuals taking six common field sobriety tests. The officers were asked to decide whether suspects were too intoxicated to drive legally. Unknown to the officers, none of the suspects had a BAC above .000. They had zero alcohol in their blood. However, in the professional opinion of the officers, 46% of the completely sober individuals were too drunk to drive! Therefore, use of field sobriety tests led to judgments by law enforcement officers that were about as accurate as flipping a coin.

As for the Nystagmus eye test, at http://www.duiblog.com/2005/06/13/nysta ... st-part-2/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; the following quote is attributed to "Dr. L. F. Dell’Osso, Professor of Neurology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Director of the Ocular Motor Neurophysiology Laboratory at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Cleveland:"

"Using nystagmus as an indicator of alcohol intoxication is an unfortunate choice, since many normal individuals have physiologic end-point nystagmus…Without a neuro-opthalmologist or someone knowledgeable about sophisticated methods of eye movement recordings, it is difficult to determine whether the nystagmus is pathologic. It is unreasonable that such difficult judgments have been placed in the hands of minimally trained officers."

The reference provied is: Dell’Osso, "Nystagmus, Saccadic Intrusions, Oscillations and Oscillopsia", 147 Current Neuro-Opthalmology 147.

Finally, I'll mention that the former prosecutor I talked to said the "sobriety testing" is a formality as far as the Louisiana State Police are concerned. He said that if they ask somebody to take field sobriety tests they've already decided they're going to flunk. It's just a procedure they have to go through to get to the next step. Now I realize Hillary was stopped in South Carolina and not Louisiana. But I sure wouldn't be surprised if it's the same situation over there. In any case, "flunked a field sobriety test" means nothing. That could happen to a completely sober person.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
