ODU/Notre Dame could be a doozy.

I'm seeing a lot of upsets this year. More mid-major teams in this years and some didn't get respect. UNI got fucked over worse of all.

OK - I don't claim to be a basketball fan. I assumed that the play-in game was between the bare-bottom two teams in the tourney and they are vying for a chance to play #1. I assumed wrong?

Tennessee got screwed with a 6 seed. The way they lost to Kentucky in the SEC tourney didn't help...

But, they beat two number one seeds this year (including the number one seed in their bracket) and they have a higher RPI than every other FOUR seed... yet they're given a SIX seed...

I'm not a basketball fan either, but that's how I thought the brackets were set up, too.
However I guess not.

According to wiki (which, of course, isn't guaranteed to be completely accurate, but I'm too lazy to sift through all the NCAA bylaws/handbooks/etc.):

The winner of the opening round becomes the lowest #16 seed and advances to the main draw of the tournament to play the overall #1 seed in one of the regionals.

Which means they set it up so they can do their normal fellating of one of their favorite teams, even if they aren't the actual #1 team in the country. Lame.


And as far as "bare bottom" teams, I think that is an excellent idea for the womens tourney. Or even better, in volleyball. (okay, so they basically already do that with beach volleyball, but anyhow)
