Best date I ever went on was at the Balloon on my birthday in '86 - Annie Haslam and Renaissance - squeezed into the shallow "pit" in front of the stage, sat on the floor right in front of the mic - it was like Annie was singing just to me.

I can't recall the schedule. We did MNF at Down Under. DP was definitely Wed, plus 2 or 3 more nights a week. Balloon was rare for me, never really liked the Balloon. I know that's blasphemy to many, but it was like a fraternity party where you had to pay for beer.

The Baloon was more tolerable if you knew a couple of the bartenders.

BTW, if you ordered a draft beer at the Baloon, it didn't matter what the tap said you were drinking, you were drinking Piels. Those were the only kegs they bought.

I learned to find the stench to be somewhat endearing.
