Re: Elon/Richmond
Elon had the opportunity to jump out to a bid lead in the first quarter and didn't get it done. Richmond hung around and took it away. Good win for the Spiders, touch loss for Elon.

Re: Elon/Richmond
We missed a lot of chances to capitalize on Richmond's mistakes and they were the better team down the stretch. Place kicking really killed us as usual at Richmond. And about our fans, many were not loud, many were children, and they split the 750 tix up on both sides at the ends of the visitor sideline bleachers. I guess what they did was sell the tickets to the Phoenix Club by how many Club Points people had. You earn points from donations, and years in the club, so older fans, not as likely to be loud or be out in the sun.

Split up on the ends of the bleachers. Half of our 750 was on one end, and the other half was on the other end. You had quite a few empty seats too. There were a few sections that weren't even half filled on the home side. Brand new stadium, great game, two pretty evenly matched teams, stadium half the size of the old one, on campus, and you can't sell it out, where were YOUR fans? Also get new guy to lead the in stadium student section chants, he sounds ridiculous with that lisp. "Leth go Thpiderth"

They don't have to give them back...build a bigger stadium and that isn't a problem.PenthouseClosedEnd wrote:Elon fans, we sent you 750 tickets.
it appears 300 of you showed and you didn't give the rest back..
What gives?
Re: Elon/Richmond
It was sold out. The students were given 2,200 tickets (BTW-we have 2900 undergrads) when they normally will get 1,600. Those extra kids packed into the end zone section leaving some seats in the main sections unoccupied.JConnolly wrote:Split up on the ends of the bleachers. Re: Elon/Richmond
Congrats on the sellout crowd of 8700. It was only 20,500 less than showed up in Boone on Saturday.
Re: Elon/Richmond
you also only have 14,000 more students than us.
Re: Elon/Richmond
Ok, Ok. Take away the additional 5,000 students at the ASU game (7,000 - and that's quite a stretch - ASU students minus the 2300 students at your game) and we only had 15,500 (roughly twice the size of your crowd) more show up. In a town of 16,000 compared to a metro area of more than 1,300,000. Feel better now?ur2K wrote:you also only have 14,000 more students than us.

Re: Elon/Richmond
So only 6,000 of your 17,000 students showed up? That is sort of a pathetic percentage. 2,200 of Richmond's 2,800 students were at the game, close to 80%. Your school and stadium are much bigger than ours, we get it. Who cares?
Re: Elon/Richmond
It isn't about % of students, it's about what % of the students fits in the stadium to begin with.Bostonspider wrote:So only 6,000 of your 17,000 students showed up? UNI can't fit all of our students in. If we fill out student section 100% full we are still leaving out about 8,000 students

Re: Elon/Richmond
Well, to be honest, streamer throwing was a 50 year old tradition at Big 5 games in Philly long before that past 5 years when JMU started throwing them. If you guys can copy that tradition why can't Richmond do the same???BDKJMU wrote:So UR decides to copy JMU and throw streamers?DirtyDukes wrote:Richmond Fans throwing streamers? Real cool.

I'm sure alexale's behind it.
Re: Elon/Richmond
More would show up if we had the seating. Still can't believe you guys went with a 8,000 seat stadium. I know the issues with the area the school is in, but 8,000 seats?Bostonspider wrote:So only 6,000 of your 17,000 students showed up?
