Big deal. Taunting students. How novel.clenz wrote:Cap, how many times did you CROSS THE FIELD to blow kisses and swear at the students after the game?
The slobs sitting right behind SFA during the game, they deserve to get back whatever they give. Going out of your way to taunt the student section after the game is another.

I didn't see the taunting so I can't speak to it directly, but some friendly trash talking and banter is just fine by me. Fans should be friendly and respectful before and after the game, no question. During the game some friendly ribbing is fine and should be expected, but that is just me.

I don't usually post I just watch. Honestly why is Sfa pissing everyone off? I know it should be illegal to beat UNI at home. But Albany fans really nobody ran the score up the two point deal was something we needed to work on thats it. Besides that i don't know what happend I was at the game and watched the film. the UNI deal i mean really thats really never happend in every game you play. I know you gave us the game thanks by the way because its hard enough to win in the dome. Montana no doubt you beat the hell out of us and thursday before the game our players went to the bar. Everything you said was true but how relevant? Lets just relax if you got your ass whipped after wearing our ass out about the ATM game then just take it like a man(albany). Like i said UNI your a great team thanks for giving us the game and Montana thanks for helping us get drunk before our ass whipping.

OSBF-get over it
You started the thread before and are completely rehashing for whatever reason. You won the game!
For the record I will reiterate: There is no classier and humble gentleman in the game of football than Coach Stig. A devoutly religious man who doesn't even allow swearing in practice. The only curse he knows is "Holy Nutmeg". I've said it before you can lay this out at the feet of admin who did poor pregame planning as this was the first time State entered from the north endzone instead of the south. This led to confusion and then added to it when players were confused why ISU was entering where they were, because no one told them that ISU would be entering where they used to.
I will not completely defend the team, but I won't let it all fall on them. And I won't let anyone question Stig's integrity.
But please keep making the molehill bigger.
Coach Spack should have been directing his players away from the SDSU sideline through the 20 to 30 yds of space that was available to them instead of "holding them back" from the "brawl". But nope they joined right in. Must not take much. Disturbing
I'll even chalk one up to your QB after one TD he basically ran towards the SDSU bench did fist pumps at the bench and screamed for 5 seconds. Disturbing.
Yes it is a disturbing trend....that occurs once every decade in one program or the other. Look through our history, this has never happened with any of our teams.(the fans are a different story, back in the NCC big rivalry days).
So please...let this thread get as many hits as you can, let it die. Then please bring the subject up again.

Re: Disturbing Trend
I played at Towson during the "take you lhelmet for everyone to see" era of football. It angered one of my roommates(our RT) when he saw someone on tv do it.
Myself and my other roommate(the LT) made a pact that if one of us were to unimmaginabley score in a game, we'd both take our helmets off to celebrate in front of him. The 15 yard penalty was nothing compared to seeing him that angry.
It's a game guys, have fun and laugh a little.

"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

Re: Disturbing Trend
I wasn't at the SFA/UNI game and not sure what happened with the taunting with the student section.
From my experience though at other games I think it has to go on both the students and teams. When I was at SFA I was on the sidelines for many road games in the SLC and some of the comments the student section directed towards the players, coaches and other sfa were pretty rough and crossed the line. Calling them everything in the book, taunting a player because his brother was killed, bringing up players families etc. and just crap like that.
I refused to sit in our student section after my first SFA game because of the things the students were saying. Its disrespectful. I'm fine with heckling but when it crosses the line that's what i have problem with. As fans its also our responsibility. If the students are going to dish it out then the players should be able to dish it back.
Everyone's emotional at the games and sometimes it gets out of hand. If the players did run across the field just to taunt then I think that goes on the coaches. If the students were behind the SFA bench and were taunting and then when the game was over or nearing and the players were giving it back to the fans then that's part of the game. I remember that happened at Texas State back in i think 07 when SFA was pretty bad but we came in and won. The students were heckling and taunting the players all game but when SFA had it wrapped up the players gave it right back to the fans.
Not sure what happened with SDSU and the "brawl" but I know SFA and SAM got into a big brawl in 04. SAM just blocked a field goal that would have won the game for SFA. The next play SAM kneeled the ball and two SAM players came out and started to jump on our logo and it pissed one of our defensive players off so he ran across the field speared the guy and then dragged him about 20 yards by the face mask down by the field. It was all emotions. The game is emotional. So it goes back to everyone controlling their emotions and not letting it get out of hand and that includes players coaches and fans.
Well there is my two cents.

They had to cross the field to get to the students, that is the issue I have with it. Had they stayed and taunted the people that talked shit to them the entire time, that is one thing. However, the students are on the East side of the dome, the visiting bench is the West side. It was loud enough that even if there were insults thrown at SFA from the student section they weren't going to be heard by the players.sfajack05 wrote:

Re: Disturbing Trend
If you get offended by taunting, you're a pussy. And if you can't handle it, take up a sport (er, game?) that generally doesn't allow any sort of distraction during play, like golf, tennis or bowling.
And if you think this is a new trend, or it doesn't happen at your school, you're absolutely delusional.

Believe it or not, I remember going to an ODU/JMU women's b-ball game @ODU (probably when you were still young enough to remember breastfeeding...that kind of memory fades as you approach your higher single-digits)....and if it can happen at a women's b-ball game, it can happen anywhere.∞∞∞ wrote:What are you talking about? Re: Disturbing Trend
I don't know, but as a player we were always taught to play the game as if there was no crowd.
In my eyes, no player at any point should ever react to someone in the crowd tauting them.

Re: Disturbing Trend
Clenz I am not a scientist but it seems you may have a sour taste in your mouth after you talked for two weeks about how that UNI was going to make players go down hurt for real or some pun on words that was funny to you. Uni is a really good team with one of the top five hardest places to play in the fcs. Just get off of it I was on the field when we played in the dome a few years ago, and I promise my mother was discussed by a few fans. If its that big a deal to you go and get a job in college coaching and change the complexion of the game. The reality is that they way people act is a direct reflextion of our society (individualism), and me personality those problems begin with parenting. Sorry i got off track with the explanation just an opinion.
Re: Disturbing Trend
Well if I am coaching i want my kids to feed off the energy. I wouldn't want my kids not to play with emotion.

Yes, I agree. Responding to the crowd by on-field play is a different story then what we're talking about though isn't it?Jacks16 wrote:Well if I am coaching i want my kids to feed off the energy. I wouldn't want my kids not to play with emotion.
And at this level your players need to play the same whether there is 1,000 fans or 20,000 fans because from week to week it could vary that way.
Re: Disturbing Trend
So should the fans be allowed to say whatever they feel like. Realisticly kids are gonna play different in front of a grand or twenty grand if its good or bad who knows.

Its the host school's responsibility to police the fans. Not the opposing team.Jacks16 wrote:So should the fans be allowed to say whatever they feel like. Realisticly kids are gonna play different in front of a grand or twenty grand if its good or bad who knows.
And sure that reaslistic, but as a Coach the goal has to be to put the same team on the field every week, regardless of the fans. That's the way I would Coach a team.
Re: Disturbing Trend
Danefan i never said anything about players policing, I waz just pointing out both happen and no matter what anyone says it happens everywhere. I am not going to say you don't know anything about coaching but your dealing with 18-22 year old people your not gonna have the same team every week. Thats a fact its like dealing with a woman you never know what you got till she wakes up.

You'll do just fine around here.
Crowds taunt everywhere that's for sure. I'm not so sure about player's taunting the crowd though.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't it a UNI player that overtly hit a Griz player in the nuts and was tossed from the games a few years ago? I may be wrong so don't take it to the bank.
And yes, we should be talking about how the Griz are in the shitter.
