Is it not possible that I could have changed my mind over the past couple months? :coffee: :coffee:

No, in Ursus' black/white world that's just NOT ALLOWED.
Got it, you got your ass kicked. Then decided after taking a beating that the side you were actually on in the first place was the wrong side of the debate so you looked into it all more closely and changed your mind.

Who the fuck do you think you're kidding here?

BTW, of course you were waiting for it. You have a keen eye for seeing when your full of shit like the rest of us do. :thumb:
No, I decided I'd rather see us playing Utah State, Idaho, Wyoming, Washington State, Boise State, Colorado State, BYU, Utah, etc., than NAU, ISU, PSU, EWU, WSU, UND, etc.

What does my alma mater have to do with the price of rice in China?
It's the kind of excitement you could get with a similar team moving to a similar conference. :thumb:

That's the kind of new and exciting shit you were looking forward to for the Griz right?

One of your schools has already found out just how great life in FBS can be, why are you so anxious for the other one to do the same? :coffee:

Seems you're all directing your responses to AZ, but I'll respond anyways. I used the word "potentially" because we don't know where an FBS ride could take us. We do where FCS goes, because we've been there. It's awesome. Sailing uncharted territory can be a lot more "exciting" however :twocents:

Sil, I've seen the territory. It just doesn't do a fucking thing for me. We are very unlikely to ever be in the kinds of positions that TCU & BSU have achieved. In spite of that even though they've done so much with so little they are likely to be and teams like that always have been locked out of the real glory.

If FBS ever has a real playoff where it is more than the top four teams then I will be on board.

Those beauty contests at the end of the year in FBS just don't do a thing for me.

I can honestly say I would. The ACC is a joke as a football conference. Maybe I'd be swayed more by the Big East (or WAC in your case). We could never compete in the SEC & the ACC is not a step up IMO.
Seriously, that is fucking COMICAL. You're telling me that a football conference with Florida State, Boston College, Virgina Tech, Georgia Tech, Virgina, Clemson and Miami (FL) is a "joke"? You'd be "swayed" by a conference who's best team is Pitt? Seriously?
You tell me the last time any one of them schools did a fokking thing in football? I mean since they've expanded the ACC to 12 teams? The Big East has same prestige IMO (with regard to football) & it's not like we have ongoing rivalry's with ACC teams. Hell, they won't even play us anymore.....

So when is being invited to the WAC anywhere close to the ACC?

WAC is a joke of a conference, now.

Hey, I hear you. I'm a Pitt Panthers fan and generally don't give a sh#t about what bowl they make, or how they do, or who they're playing, etc. It's not for a national championship, so who cares. But the Griz are another story, we'd get to see a program try to build itself up again, try to take down opponents that we're actually underdogs to for once. Start bringing in higher profile recruits and start seeing them thrive in the NFL on a more consistent basis. Hosting teams with actual fanbases on a consistent basis. Hell, with the emergence of 1-and-1 agreements it is not unreasonable to see us hosting a Texas or Oregon within 5 years of moving up.

And the FBS will see change. Pressure has been building every year since its inception.

Clenz, don't throw the economics like adding two more scholarship sports for women to your athletic budget into the mix. That's when the pro-FBS crowd gets real mad because that shoots their ideas all to hell.....

I haven't actually looked into it, but in O'Day's email he mentioned that we were already out of Title IX compliance somehow and would need to add women's scholarships. Not sure on the specifics

Finally an end to all the UM move up threads here and everywhere else. Here are a few observations I have:
  • 1. If the WAC loses a team to the MWC if TCU leaves, they are done along with any school in the WAC. The WAC would then become even more desperate to stay alive than they just were. Think about it, they took a school that has yet to play 1 game of football. That screams stability.
    2. The move-up threads will start again once rumors about TCU take a stronger hold. I don’t think the WAC would be too proud to not court UM to joint them again. (And really MSU since the UM Pres pretty much just admitted that MSU owns them and is the deciding factor in all of this.)
    3. We will be back to square one with all the move-up nonsense on all these boards.

Look you have some good reasons. I can see what you're getting at but how long was it before it a team that is established like Wyoming got Texas to come there? It's possible but in that scenario we ain't gonna have that a whole lot if ever.

Now the odd thing is that you say new challenges as far as being the underdog and achieving and having a better recruit base for NFL type players. Don't we have that underdog thing now...to an even higher degree?

If we have the same # of scholorships, and basically all the same advantages with any other team in FBS then how is it gonna be cooler to see guys in the NFL? Right now you look at the guys in there from the Griz and you can say "he played at a school that gave him less of a chance and he is still succeeding."

I don't see nearly the bang for the buck of moving up that we get now and we already pay plenty for the opportunity to support the team. That money is gonna from us.
