The NCC was formed in 1922. Charter members of the NCC were South Dakota State College (now South Dakota State University), College of St. Thomas, Des Moines, Creighton University, North Dakota Agricultural College (now North Dakota State University), University of North Dakota, Morningside College, University of South Dakota, and Nebraska Wesleyan University.
The University of Northern Iowa was a member of the NCC from 1934 until 1978.

I'd like to see someone apply the "sissy" label to Grand Valley, MN-Duluth, and TX A&I and get away with it. They've been dominant in D-II for quite some time.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

They are sissys AND IN A WATERED DOWN D2. We were #1 twice, beat 4 FBS schools in 3 years, got into playoffs in year 2 and crushed the big sky #2 team and BEAT THE NATL Champs (until bill fette didn't reverse an obvious BULLSHIT CALL!)

Re: University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO)
I stand by what I said about the Nebraska legislature... if you look at their actions - allowing UNO to start up a hockey team, so that they can compete at the D-I level without directly competing with Lincoln in any way is what they are going for.
As for the "it won't draw anyone away from Lincoln..." I disagree, dangle the chance to start for 3 years in front of a kid who might never get that shot in Lincoln, and some of Nebraska's depth begins playing in Omaha...
It's similar to what has happened in Minnesota. The U of M has blocked any real talk of MN State-Mankato or MN-Duluth moving up - and Minnesota isn't nearly the brand (esp. in football) that Nebraska is.

It's the same situation at UNI and Iowa. Those kids grow up Husker fans. Their dream is to wear the Noledge helmet and that red jersey. 99% of them would gladly take the walk on limited play role over the shot at UNO.

Re: University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO)
You have a point - it's not like here in MN where dangling trying to walk on at Minnesota isn't much more compelling than going to NDSU or UNI...clenz wrote:If you thinking a kid will go to UNO over Nebraska you are delusional.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:I stand by what I said about the Nebraska legislature... if you look at their actions - allowing UNO to start up a hockey team, so that they can compete at the D-I level without directly competing with Lincoln in any way is what they are going for.

Still don't see the decision makers in Nebraska - where the Huskers are everything - letting this happen.

Re: University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO)
Depends on the kid and where he grew up. If he grew up in Omaha but wants to stay home, I could EASILY see him staying there. If he grew up in Lincoln and is desperate to escape (but not get too far), Omaha could be a valid option. This is especially true if the kid has realistic advisors and knows that he won't get a fair shake in Lincoln. For some, starting (and starring) is more important than the level that it happens on.clenz wrote:If you thinking a kid will go to UNO over Nebraska you are delusional.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:I stand by what I said about the Nebraska legislature... if you look at their actions - allowing UNO to start up a hockey team, so that they can compete at the D-I level without directly competing with Lincoln in any way is what they are going for.

Major may enter the equation as well. If an athlete wants a career in something supported by Omaha but not Lincoln, that could tip the choice.

Re: University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO)
UNO is sitting pretty. They can use the Summit invite as a way to make it into D-I(you need a conf. invite to move up now) If the MVFC & Summit can convince UND to join them. Poof they are in the summit/mvfc. If UND says we're staying & the MVFC says no to 11. Then UNO gets on the phone with the Big Sky and the Big Sky would take them as a full member, for a 14/12. I do think if the MVFC/Summit invite came for UND they'd go, save on travel, old rivals, yada yada.

Exactly why I think it wouldn't affect Nebraska that much. Nebraska doesn't need help from legislature to defend itself. Unlike Minnesota, they need all the help they can get. From everything I have read, UND is happy where they are at, and Fullerton is happy to have them (who knows whyFresno St. Alum wrote:UNO is sitting pretty. Re: University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO)
What is UND gonna say, they hate the Sky? No, every school takes the best option given to them. If they see a UNO/MVFC invite as a better option, they'll go. If they think the Sky is still better, then UNO should call the sky and say we'll be your #12/#14, you want us?Thundering Herd wrote:From everything I have read, UND is happy where they are at, and Fullerton is happy to have them (who knows whyFresno St. Alum wrote:UNO is sitting pretty. I don't know if they would accept an offer from the MVFC, but it sure would make more sense than where they are at now. With UNO & UND it would make 12 in the MVFC, with two division. Could make the conference very interesting.

Re: University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO)
Fullerton did say when USD took and invite to the MVFC over the Big Sky that the Big Sky would not penalize UND if they wanted to go in another direction.
