Ideal FCS conference for your school?
Re: Ideal FCS conference for your school?
When you look at conferences, you really need to look at shifting demographics within the U.S. West Point has three national championships, Fordham was once a college powerhouse, and conversely, most of us can remember when Miami (the one in Florida) considered three wins a good year and the Montana State University grizzlies were in what is now called the PAC10 and they'd win a game or two a year and it was usually against the tiny little Ag School in Bozeman. In fact, the fizzledoutagain is probably the only program in the country that has dropped down and feels they've made a significant move, but I digress...
The idiotic move of the ACC will eventually impact us all, just as the growth in the Rocky Mountain Region is going to affect our classification, just as the growth in the South affected the SoCon (check out their list of former members). Nobody in their right mind can deny that Boise and Bozeman are now destination locations. I never imagined Boise growing to over a half a million, but on the other hand, I don't have any idea what is going to stop Bozeman and it's proximity to Yellowstone National Park, world class destination ski resorts, hundreds of multibillionaires, hi-tech companies by the moving van relocating back to where they got their education--my school is going to get pulled up by a larger conference whether all the kids who can't remember when we were in the conference that morphed into the original WAC likes it or not The only impediment to this natural progression is that our Board of Regents is pretty much run by the school that envisions themselves as pseudo-bigtime (without the academics or infrastructure--and the capability to expand that infrastucture).
Anyway, change is the only constant we need to get used to. We'll adapt and love our school and the game of football no matter what the level.
p.s. Wouldn't you love the fizzledoutagain fans to have to watch their team play USC, UCLA, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, berkley

I think your ebb and flow is fairly accurate; couple other moves that may happen: Valdosta State and Cal Poly.Fresno St. Alum wrote:Just the schools being added *(D-II),#(No Football)

I would doubt Georgia State remains FCS very long. With their campus adjacent to Tech, they'll probably never be able to build their own stadium as Kennesaw will do (didn't have much room for the dorms courtesy of the Olympics) and as it's such a huge student enrollment and caters to the commuter crowd, it may suffer the same fate as Northridge, Sacramento and up until now, PSU. If Glanville brings the people to the stadium as he did with the Falcons, PSUs image will certainly change.
Anyway, it's nice to talk about change and observe. One would assume both Cal Poly and UC Davis move up about the same timeframe.

Never going to happen, dude. Sac is NOT leaving the Sky. I wish people (particularly Griz fans) would get off that kick. Sac is here to stay. They just can't handle that Sac dominates the Sky in VB, and merely gloss over that as "not important."Fresno St. Alum wrote:GWFC (8)

Also, under current administration, UOP isn't going to bring back football. The president and his sycophant AD will have none of it. In fact, the prez laughed in my face at my Title IX solution, which shows that he was never interested in bringing football back to begin with. (Title IX was cited as a major issue in the "suspension" of the football program, even though nobody wants to talk about the fact that without football, UOP is in violation of Title IX in reverse.) If UOP ever brings back football, which will be under a subsequent president if it happens at all, they'd be a better fit in a resurrected Big West football program since anything else would be at LEAST a step down for the rest of the athletic program. Your inclusion of UOP in the soon-to-fold Great West is laughable at best.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Re: Ideal FCS conference for your school?
I know that Sac St. would never leave. Unless it was for the WAC but the question is IDEAL CONFERENCE.
I hear rumors from people "in the know" that UOP is looking into bring back football. Even if they never bring it back it's what I would want to happen. Thats funny how you get all irate over how I would want football to be set up if I was incharge.

Re: Ideal FCS conference for your school?
Maybe, "not important to me" would've been a better choice of words for the fella. As for the Great West, w/ UND and USD coming in, it should stay at a strong 5 teams for at least 3 or 4 more years, not as strong w/o NDSU and SoDakSU, not yet anyway, but still strong. The only downside is it doesn't get the autobid that everybody wants in their conference. This may cause a desire to go Independent for a few of the GW Teams.SuperHornet wrote: Never going to happen, dude. Sac is NOT leaving the Sky. ...and we care about VB because it brings in so much money for the teams and conference? Because it's such a high profile sport? Because they have attendance in the several thousands every weekend? Oh yeah... that's why we want Sac. St gone.. they bring nothing to the conference except a fantastic and super volleyball team!SuperHornet wrote:Never going to happen, dude. NAU and Sac State -- Really need to be in Great West from a location perspective....shrinks the BSC footprint considerably.
UNC - Need to go back to D-II.
I am with AZ on this one............I do think that UNC can get thier act together and be fine in DI, they just have a long road to go......And they need to develop a broad base of alumni support.
That is not how you build your program though. I bet they had fine alumni support. Boise State didn't just vie out of FBS. You have to work hard and build a good team and COACH. The rest falls into place.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That is LOL funny.
Yep, I lose sleep EVERY NIGHT wondering what the Griz are going to do to wrest that volleyball title from Suck State.

Football & Basketball and maybe Baseball matter in college sports. Lacrosse in the east, Hockey in the Midwest/East might matter a little too. all other sports get almost no air time period.
