So what is the majority opinion of Idaho fans? The die hards are adamantly opposed to FCS which is understandilble. Do the huddled masses up in northern Idaho feel the same way? I think most everybody on the outside looking in believes they are a good fit for the Big Sky,

The WAC is not going to fold but it may have to drop football. Too bad for UTSA (a probable CUSA invitee given their attendance successes) and Texas State (not so much), who are making the jump into the ever-shrinking WAC next season.

NOT ONLY DO I SAY NO.... I SAY HELL NO!!!
Those guys were pricks when they left and they are still pricks. I say tell em to shove it up their tailpipe.
If they dont bring their football team, and the money it brings, this is a loser for the big sky.

It is easy to envision the conference raiding going down to the Sun Belt and WAC being raided. If so, I suspect we might see a combined football conference between them, along the lines of the combined football conference between the MWC and C-USA.hardtimes wrote:The WAC is not going to fold but it may have to drop football. In other words, we could see a Big East with a west division in Texas and the mountain states; a football conference with a mountain west and eastern division; and a Wacky Sun Belt football conference with a western and eastern division.
If the Big East takes Central Florida, SMU, and Houston, I could see C-USA taking Florida International and North Texas to replace them. I think Troy would be vetoed by UAB and Middle Tennessee by Memphis, and Louisiana schools by Tulane. South Alabama is intriguing--it was formed as a branch of the University of Alabama for Mobile and is a research institution. They might be more palatable, but their football is brand new. I think if C-USA wants a third team that doesn't interfere with instate recruiting for one of its member institutions, Arkansas State and Western Kentucky are possible. The Sun Belt would be looking for new members. And if the Mountain West responds to Big East raiding by taking Utah State and San Jose State, then I see New Mexico State, LA Tech, and the Texas schools and maybe Idaho, looking for football only in the Sun Belt (kind of like the refuge when the Big West dropped football). If the WAC loses two basketball playing schools, they would have to be replaced to keep the basketball autobid alive. Unless Montana changes its mind, that would probably force the WAC to plug its collective nose and invite both Utah Valley and CSU-Bakersfield, resulting in four non-football playing members.
