Of course he realizes, because Braxton Miller is better than Tebow. :coffee:
After watching Miller miss wide open receivers time & time again on Saturday I can see why you would compare him to Tebow.

He's a true freshman. With Meyer at the helm, he could be the best QB OSU has ever seen. And he's got something Tebow will never have, an arm.

So no Braxton is going to be the best QB in Ohio State history?

Even Tebow completed more than 50% of his college passes.

Shit...only once this year did he complete more than 8 passes in a game.

I'm entitled to my opinions, yes.

Pretty easy to complete 50% when you throw 8 times a game like Tebow did. He wanted all the glory for himself. He had more talented receivers than anyone could shake a stick at but he'd rather run it, because he can't throw for shit.

Miller didn't have a coach this year that could harbor his talents, Meyer can.

Do you realize who was calling the 8 pass plays a game for Tebow????? Um...Meyer

Also, Tebow averaged 248 passes a season...or 19 per game and a completion rate of 66.4%....If you don't include the season he split time with Leak his stats were

320.6 passes per season
24.6 passes per game
66.4% completion

Career passer rating over 170

You are entitled to your opinion, but it is so blind it's loyalty to all things OSU it is so far from any sort of truth it's laughable.

Of those three games you mentioned, only once did he got over 8.

I just love how a QB gets blamed for a crap OL and receivers who have a bad case of the dropsies.

Were you actually watching the game? He airmailed probably a half dozen deep balls where he had the defender beat (seriously - Michigan needs to work on that)

He's a freshman - a clearly talented one - but he was in over his head in that game - to his credit, he overthrew instead of underthrew...

Well, I've seen PLENTY of drops of Tebow's passes this year. In his teammates' defense, though, they've at least tried, at least to some degree. Compared to that Dwayne Bowe, who didn't even bother to put his hands up for a pass that could have led to a winning TD yesterday? That dude oughta get canned for THAT trash.

oh for pete's...

I was talking about OSU's QB - a freshman.

As for Tebow... you CLEARLY aren't watching their games... because he sucks out loud at throwing passes - and is being carried by a GREAT offensive line, running backs and defense.

I didn't say a word about Denver's RBs or defense -- I'll definitely back you on that.

If OSU's QB is as good as advertised, he's in for a bunch of awards under Meyer's tutelage, there's no doubt about that. (I thought you were talking about Tebow essentially being a freshman [at least in terms of continued experience]. I think he'll get it straightened out. But passing yards as a stat [except for fantasy] is overrated. I'd rather have a guy with 0 passing yards and a W over a guy with 400 and an L. The best defense in the NFL in 1950 lost to a team that didn't throw a single pass. And a college team THIS year lost to a team that didn't have a single "official" completion. The win is more important, IMO.)

That said, I think Meyer could do wonders in SF with Alex Smith....

Yup....Denver has won their last 3 games by scoring 17, 17, and 16 in OT.

If it wasn't for the fact that Denver's D may be one of the best in the league the last month and a half Tebow wouldn't have these wins. Devner is only scoring 19 ppg since Tebow took over. They won't continue to win scoring that many points unless this Denver defense holds and becomes one of the best in history.

Hell, take out that Detroit game - which has been by far the worst of the season and that defense is only giving up 15 points per game over the last 5, without the time to look around the NFL, I'd bet that is tops in the league....and even with that Denver is winning by less than a score per game.

The only person who is accusing Braxton Miller of being all world is Willie. Florida fell apart when Dan Mullen (OC) & Charlie Strong (DC) jumped to start their own programs & then Meyer "retired". Let's see how great of a coach he is with Fickell as his DC & a yet to be named OC.

Thank you, finally someone who actually watched instead of just criticizing. Had he hit the open receivers he had ALL game, Michigan was screwed.

Haven't read the whole thread... so I'm not sure if this has been covered already or not...

But, Meyer did not call the plays at Florida. He also didn't at Utah or Bowling Green. He has never called plays in his life. There is a myth that Meyer is some sort of offensive genius... but, it's simply not true.

His staff will make or break him. If he hires someone like Dan Mullen as his offensive coordinator... he'll do well. If he hires someone like Charlie Strong as his defensive coordinator... he'll do well. If he hires someone like Steve Addazio as his offensive coordinator... his offense will look like a steaming pile of shit like it did at Florida.

Fickell will be either the linebackers coach, or defensive coordinator. The University has made it clear that he will stay, Meyer doesn't have say in that one.

That is true. If Strong and Mullen realize they are not going to last at their respective jobs and rejoin Meyer at OSU, then they will beat Hoke and UM like a drum and run shop in the Big-whatever Ivy League Wannabes conference.

What's a guy got to do to be considered an offensive genius? He basically invented the Spread Option as we know it today and made it work in the SEC.

Word on the street regarding the Meyer staff is
A. Mike Stoops is his top choice for the DC job. And a fine one he'll be.
B. He wants Tim Brewster for 2 jobs- TE coach and recruiting, especially his Texas connections.
C. As far as OC, I've heard Gus Malzahn's name tossed around in the ESPN rumor-mongering mill. Hard to say who else they're looking at right now. Chad Morris at Clemson was popular until they re-upped him. Other than those 2, I have no idea.

P.S. Getting Florida's Strength and Conditioning coach was a huge coup for the Buckeyes. He's the best in the business, bar none.

Invented the spread?!?!

The spread - variations of it have been around since the 20's... in modern times... you can say it started with the Houston Cougars "run and shoot" in the late 80's... or, if you're being more strict... Mike Leach at Texas Tech and Joe Tiller at Purdue in the late 90's CLEARLY were deploying it before Meyer... Meyer brought it to the SEC in a meaningful way - which 10 years ago was running either option offenses (a few) or west-coast, pro-style offenses (many)

I didn't say he invented the spread, merely the spread option AS WE KNOW IT TODAY. Mike Leach and Joe Tiller's offenses are apples and oranges compared to Meyer's spread scheme. It is totally different. Just look at the techniques and formations and run:pass ratios.

The pirate himself would be the first to tell you that his scheme is referred to as the "Air Raid" or Run and Shoot and I'm fairly sure that's what Tiller was using when he had Brees at Purdue. Meyer's system is totally different. Unlike ML's and JT's, it is run-centric and built around the running game. It is run-first. While that in and of itself is not new, how Meyer deploys it is, and makes it his. Now if you can prove that someone else invented Urban's spread option attack first, I'm all ears and will mea culpa you to death if so.

I'm not trying to antagonize you, consider it a challenge to prove me wrong.

No. Dan Mullen did.

Crap...I forgot (but I'm aware of) RichRod's offense.
I was under the impression that his was cut from a different cloth from Meyer's schematically. Meyer's is more balanced from what I recall at UF compared to RichRod at WVU. I would agree that they are similar.

(I think the NAIA school was Glenville State in West Virginia, too.)

All things being said, I applaud you for proving me wrong. Totally forgot about Rich Rod when I said that. :notworthy:
