Guys I was pulling for NDSU. I'm glad they won. But SHSU did get jobbed by the officials early on when they were moving the football well and had a chance to jump out on top. They had a phantom holding call on the tight end when Flanders ran the ball down (I think) inside the 10 in the first half. I've watched that play on DVR several times and no way the guy held. He just knocked the NDSU defender down.

Also, they had two OBVIOUS interference infractions on NDSU that were not called during the first half. Really bad.

We'll never know if Sam Houston State would've been able to finish those drives if those interference infractions had been called but they definitely got the short end of the stick on the officiating in the first half and it did hurt their chances of grabbing a nice lead. There were some bad officials' calls the other way too. Like I don't think there was any interference on NDSU when they got the interception on Sam Houston's one TD drive. And there was an interference infraction on Sam Houston that wasn't called on one NDSU third down play. But, on balance, the crappy officiating in the first half...and it WAS crappy...worked against Sam Houston State.

Another thing I think you have to remember is that the injury bug caught up to Sam Houston. They lost two starting offensive linemen against Eastern Washington. People often don't notice when offensive linemen go down but losing two starters in the offensive line is huge. Then their QB got hurt so that he was no longer a running threat during the game. Then they lost the Southland Conference defensive player of the year to a knee injury.

I'm glad NDSU won and think the Bison were the better team. But that WAS a game in which an awful lot went wrong for Sam Houston State. Even that thing with the NDSU botched snap on the extra point and the Bison ending up with two points. It was just that kind of day for the BearKats.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

GSU would have beat most FCS teams this year. They pulled some tricks out of their playbook in their passing game against the Bison.

How the he** do you know if they would get beat by EWU. Wofford had a really good defense also.

SHSU playing a soft prevent in the 2nd half did them no favors in their game against EWU. I think most teams would go into a 'coast' mode when they get up by that many points.

:tothehand:
Did you even watch the game? They were not playing "Prevent" defense. EWU made second half adjustments that allowed them to start beating SHSHU's man defense one on one with our receivers. SHSU then switched to a zone, which they were not good at executing. EWU's main problems in the first half of that game was the inability to stop the option, which we're not used to seeing much. But they had a great game plan so I will give them all the credit in the world.
You guys couldn't even stop the Bearkats average option game for f***sakes!.......GSU would have scored on every drive and your great passing game would have barely seen the field.

Look, just because your Bison girls couldn't hit anyone hard enough to force more than one GSU fumble doesn't mean EWU couldn't do it.

And EWU would have gained far more than 276 yards when they did get their chances...cripes, NDSU could only manage 262 yards against Wofford.

Luckily limping into a championship game doesn't back up your bragging.
