I hear a lot of noise about farm programs being welfare for rich big farmers (they are) but that noise tends to come from the left when they are making arguments based in moral equivalency.
Where's the hue and cry to abolish Soc Sec, labor laws, or unemployment insurance?

No, IMO the Central Banks are mostly about "cash or currency" ...It's the unscrupulous billionaires and above that manipulate (legally too in many cases) the markets. They have so much money they can cause serious movements in the markets just by what they themselves do.

No, politicians lack the stones to admit it publicly just like you'll have a hard time finding a serious politician calling for the abolition of guns. But it's there none the less. Klam's original assertion that somehow conservatives want to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and labor laws is a smoking hole in the ground
so he's resorting to internet memes and hyperbole
But kudos for the roundabout mea culpa on "oh I know what they THINK, but they won't admit it publicly"
Nice job

The New Yorker is the type of rag that Upper East Side hedge fund housewives keep on their coffee tables to show how sophisticated/empathetic/culturally trendy they are. That said, the cartoons used to be pretty good.
The piece is a gross caricature of how a liberal thinks a libertarian should act and think. Bet the author has never read an issue of Reason.

A) gun "control" is a completely different animal, please don't try to compare the two or use this red herring to divert the argument
2) Why are you now changing the argument? There's a HUGE, VAST gulf of difference between "abolish" and "privatize"...or are you still looking for a politician calling for the abolishment of those programs?

It WAS the worst policy, it IS a Ponzi scheme, but you can't put toothpaste back in the tube. At this point, we can only hope to contain it to the point where it's not contributing to our demise.

Re: L.P.D: Libertarian Police Department
Libertarians aren't fighting the other parties as much as they're fighting how the human brain is wired. Face it, we're a species that likes to dictate our beliefs against each other. People at their core like rules and order; it's simply in our nature. There might be a rising tide for Libertarianism because hating the government is the cool thing right now, but I don't believe it's a philosophy that works in the long-run. It probably would've taken root at some point in human history by now if it was feasible.

If by "lacking the balls to say so" you mean they understand that abolishing those programs would cause anarchy and isn't a financially viable alternative then, yes, they "lack the balls".
