Key words in Sanders statement: "Publicly owned". That's not the same as publicly traded, nor is it the same as "controlled by its employees.kalm wrote:So if a "major" industry was for-profit, publicly traded, and controlled by its employees, that would be bad how?AZGrizFan wrote:

I figured you'd jump to the socialist's defense.kalm wrote:So if a "major" industry was for-profit, publicly traded, and controlled by its employees, that would be bad how?AZGrizFan wrote:

Bernie in his own words has espoused government control of major industries.
You first asked if it was said at all.
Now you're throwing out something other than what I was referring to in order to salvage whatever argument you thought you were going to make.
Back to what I said- government ownership of the means of production (which Bernie would likely support) does not work and is not the answer to our GDP woes

Wow, a little defensive aren't we? So now Bernie "would likely support"?CID1990 wrote:I figured you'd jump to the socialist's defense.kalm wrote:

"I don’t believe government should take over the grocery store down the street or own the means of production, but I do believe that the middle class and the working families who produce the wealth of America deserve a decent standard of living and that their incomes should go up, not down. I do believe in private companies that thrive and invest and grow in America, companies that create jobs here, rather than companies that are shutting down in America and increasing their profits by exploiting low-wage labor abroad."

Sounds like you've been drinking the Mises Institute koolaid a little here.

Except Bernie's remedy is found in my quote. Yours is him outlining the problem
Are you done making silly semantic arguments around the difference between "would" and "would likely"?
You asked, I answered. There are more Bernie quotes to this effect.
Now I understand Clitz's angst a little better
And yes, eeek! Bernie's (and yours) wet dream has been proven to be a failure time and again-

would you like some more quotes where Bernie espouses the Benito Mussolini economic model to deflect from?

Absolutely. My first question was actually an honest one and I, like you, disagree with the notion of government taking over industries.CID1990 wrote:I don't think it says what you think it sayskalm wrote:
