They should have moved the games while they still had a chance. What a fokking disaster in having these Olympics in Rio..

It's been a pattern since at least Montreal in 1976 that whenever a poorer country holds these games that much of the rapid building they have to do just to host these games ends up being left idle for decades afterwards. It's a sin that they still get poor countries lined up to spend gobs of money building things they don't really need. MrsCCU was lamenting this fact last night. It's truly a shame what the IOC and FIFA do to these countries. Either let the countries that can afford the facilities (like US, UK, Germany, etc..) and rotate the games or don't have them at all in this current incarnation. At some point, it's unsustainable.

I'm glad all that money being embezzled....I mean funneled into Rio is fulfilling its purpose: remind the world what a cesspool that place is and how corrupt and inept both the IOC and the Brazilian government is.

Really should change that to people who play sports where the Olympics are not the pinnacle of the sport are bailing while people who play sports where the Olympics are the most important are fighting as hard as ever to get there.

The US Open was June 16-19, The British Open is July 14-17, the PGA Championship is July 28-31, Olympics Golf is supposed to be August 11-14 and then the FedEx Cup starts on August 25 for 1 month with Ryder Cup being the week following the end of the FedEx Cup starting September 30. If you want to take some time off and be sharp (that is a lot of travel back and forth with all of that in July/August), it is going to be the Olympics. Golf should have never been added to the Olympics(same with tennis)
