Man, if you can't hack it at a school that even Baldy managed to crawl his way through...CAA Flagship wrote:It sucks to not be the University of North Carolina.

(AP) — The Georgia Southern athletics department has been put on two years of probation and the football program will lose two scholarships next season after the NCAA ruled that three football players received improper academic assistance.
The NCAA said in its ruling, which was released Thursday, that an assistant compliance director provided a player with coursework on a flash drive that the player later tried to use as his own. Also, the governing body said an assistant director of student-athlete services submitted extra credit work for two football players.

Speaking of the Tar Holes, they scheduled Western for a game in 2018. Never gave us a chance.CAA Flagship wrote:It sucks to not be the University of North Carolina.

And App lost an All Conference DB Latrell Gibbs for this season due to being academically ineligible. Good for Satterfield, and I hope Gibbs gets the hint.

We lost, at home, to you guys 49-0 just a year ago. Why would I do something stupid like that?ASUG8 wrote:Hey Flaggy, you coming to Boone Sept. 10?
Actually, it's not on my radar at this time. Our game at WKU is on my radar though.
We'll have to see. I may get a wild hair and make the trip. I'll let you know.

It was an alcohol induced crawl.
Re: Sun Belt
Pretty fucked up that it was two "Assistant Directors of Compliance" who committed the violations.CAA Flagship wrote:It sucks to not be the University of North Carolina.

It's also ironic that one of the two is now working in a similar capacity at UNC-Chapel Hill.
What I did like is that the two individuals who committed the violations basically got the death penalty from the NCAA.
Worst case scenario, we'll have to give up two wins in 2013 (the one against UF will stand), and we might have to vacate one (at the most two) wins in 2014. We'll probably keep the 2014 Slum Belch title.
No postseason ban, etc. We were very diligent in reporting the violations to the NCAA and fired the people responsible immediately. All in all, we acted accordingly once we realized NCAA rules were violated, and were shown mercy.
Re: Sun Belt
FWIW, Georgia Southern will soon announce a new $2.8M contract with Adidas. Not too bad for a Slum Belch team.

That's got to be Adidas' easiest contract ever. They just need to pull their old Penn State uniforms from 1972 off the shelf and put them in new boxesBaldy wrote:FWIW, Georgia Southern will soon announce a new $2.8M contract with Adidas. Not too bad for a Slum Belch team.
