To buy cigarettes, alcohol, medicine, cash a check, enter certain buildings, rent an apartment, get a job, etc....you need some form of valid ID, usually a state issued ID. If you already have that, then how difficult is it to use that or modify it to show you're a registered voter? There's plenty of room to have a "V" somewhere to indicate registration.
It's not a difficult thing to implement. We don't need another card. Alter what's already in place and hold registration drives. Guess what, most DLs have barcodes. You can easily alter a digital file to verify a registration.
Perhaps NC should base it on the number of teeth?

As far as the student voting, they can't. They have to declare where their place of residence is. Same as if someone lives 6 months in NC and 6 months in Florida (as many do).DSUrocks07 wrote:Why should out of staters get to vote TWICE in an election? That's what I would like to know...

Of course it is more important. There is no right to vote.kalm wrote:So do you think the right to keep and bear arms is more important than the right to vote? But it's OK for this cycle if it reduces the chances of Trump becoming President.

Re: NC Voter ID Law Overturned
Whether it is a problem or not nobody really knows- the right saying it can swing elections is as speculative as the left saying it doesn't
but it is a fact that if someone wants to, they can be registered in multiple states and vote once in each of those states. I was simultaneously registered in SC and NC. I could vote in both states today if I wanted to- and there's no checks to make sure I don't. So that IS a potential problem and should be fixed
the thing with national voter registration that bothers conservatives is that it flirts with national databases that can become monsters of personal data mining- social security already does it
It really wouldnt be that hard to firewall national registration so that the data can be used ONLY for safeguarding the idea of one vote-one citizen, but our Congress is incapable of enacting something lije that. By the time it becomes law it would include additions allowing everything from health data to the tracking of who owns a Samsung phone vs an Apple one
and so we are where we are- with a highly flawed election system where anyone can vote whether they are entitled to or not - regardless of whether fraud is a "thing" or not

Estimated about 80% of these non citizens voted for Obama. This could make a difference in a very close election..

Conservative states do a ton of national damage to themselves
They might "aspire" to clean up their states voting laws by filtering out whoever
but all they do Nationally is load the pistol and shoot their foot (again)
in 2002
https://www.ssa.gov/legislation/legis_b ... 10702.html
states require a social security number to register to vote
and an ID to walk through the door

You may well be right, but this is from the State Board of Elections. How they could follow up on it, I don't know.CID1990 wrote:Whether it is a problem or not nobody really knows- the right saying it can swing elections is as speculative as the left saying it doesn't

To register to vote and vote in a North Carolina county, a person must meet the following qualification:
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must be a resident of the county, and prior to voting in an election, must have resided at his or her residential address for at least 30 days prior to the date of the election.
Must be at least 18 years old or will be 18 by the date of the next general election. (If 17 years old, persons may register no earlier than 60 days prior to the date of the primary election for the general election.)
Must not be serving a sentence for a felony conviction (including probation or on parole). If previously convicted of a felony, the person’s citizenship rights must be restored. Citizenship and voting rights are automatically restored upon completion of the sentence. No special document is needed.
Must rescind any previous registration in another county or state.
I checked my status on the same site, I'm only registered in one county, but that is only in NC. I would hope that communication between states happen, but the likelihood of that is small. Just as the likelihood of people bothering to vote in more than one state.

If you cannot attain a picture ID you are too stupid to vote.
Everything else and all the excuses are bullshit. If voting is important to you you should have a valid ID

Supposedly its too difficult to have an out of state college student who is still a resident of their home state to fill out an absentee ballot and should be allowed to vote in the state that their college is in no questions asked.Skjellyfetti wrote:Out of state students have just as much right to vote as anyone else. Otherwise they could just make a law that out-of-state students are not allowed to vote.CID1990 wrote:Watauga County doesn't want shitheads from Maryland voting in the local elections and with damn good reason![]()
But, you do admit here that they are choosing populations that they would rather not vote and making it more difficult for them to do so.
Glad you see the light on this.

Forgive me but I'm going to type this without looking up the specific numbers. The 2000 Presidential election was decided by a few hundred votes in Florida. Subsequent media investigation resulted in the conclusion that about 5,000 illegal votes were cast in Florida; with about 70% of them being cast by registered Democrats. That means thatabout 2,000 more illegal votes were cast by registered Democrats than by people registered as either Republican, some other Party, or Independent.
Obviously, that was a case in which illegal votes could very plausibly have determined who the President of the Untied States was.
