The WH counsel's office gave the info to Nunez. That's not leaking unless providing related intel to a committee chair who is cleared for it (and actually has need to know) is leaking. It was unorthodox, but not inappropriate
It cited "two US officials" and Rice's unmasking requests. I assume unmasking requests would be classified? No?

No. The mere fact of an unmask request is not generally classified. The text of the request would be if it includes classified info, but nothing like that was leaked.Skjellyfetti wrote:I was talking about the Bloomberg article that broke the Susan Rice story today.CID1990 wrote: Nobody leaked anything, SK.

Yeah, I do have a problem with the unmasking requests... if they weren't pertinent to the FBI investigation.AZGrizFan wrote: So do you have a problem with the leaking or the unmasking requests?
If the FBI needed the names for their investigation... it seems like they could have gotten it on their own (but, CID could probably say better than I could).
If the FBI needed the names for their investigation and COULDN'T get them without NSA signing off on it... then, I don't really have a problem with it.

Hmmm. Interesting.CID1990 wrote: No. The mere fact of an unmask request is not generally classified. The text of the request would be if it includes classified info, but nothing like that was leaked.
But, the news was the contents of the intercepts.
The leak provided (generally) who was in the conversations and topics that were discussed.
It wouldn't be a story if it was just "Susan Rice made an unmasking request." It was a story because of who was unmasked.

We know that Flynn was the content how again? I think because it was leaked by someone unknown at this point in time (but hopefully we'll find out)

Mike Cernovich actually broke the story on twitter. He alleges that Bloomberg and the NY Times had the story for 48 hours and sat on it because it made the Obama admin look bad and Trump allegations about spying look true. Putting it on twitter forced Bloomberg to go with its story.Skjellyfetti wrote:I was talking about the Bloomberg article that broke the Susan Rice story today.CID1990 wrote: Nobody leaked anything, SK.

He's right, it's like another Red Scare. We have a weird and unusual fascination with the idea that Russians are constantly manipulating our society and culture. Tabbi's right, even if the Russians were successful in their influence peddling, it's probably reason 101 why people didn't vote for Hillary. Strangely, whackos like JSO can't seem to see the other 100 reasons.kalm wrote:Apparently, Matt Taibbi is a Putin sympathizer. Among countless others....

Bipartisan debunking.
http://edition.cnn.com/2017/04/11/polit ... index.htmlAfter a review of the same intelligence reports brought to light by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, both Republican and Democratic lawmakers and aides have so far found no evidence that Obama administration officials did anything unusual or illegal, multiple sources in both parties tell CNN.
Their private assessment contradicts President Donald Trump's allegations that former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice broke the law by requesting the "unmasking" of US individuals' identities. Trump had claimed the matter was a "massive story."
However, over the last week, several members and staff of the House and Senate intelligence committees have reviewed intelligence reports related to those requests at NSA headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland.
One congressional intelligence source described the requests made by Rice as "normal and appropriate" for officials who serve in that role to the president.
And another source said there's "absolutely" no smoking gun in the reports, urging the White House to declassify them to make clear there was nothing alarming in the documents.

What you call "verbal diarrhea," by the way, is called "substantiating a position." You should try it.

In other words, as usual, you guys have no real argument. I hate to break this to you, but there are times when you have to be able to interpret more than 40 characters and kind of deal with the complexity of real life. You might actually need an attention span of more than 30 seconds to do it.

John, having the discussion with you is pointless. You are on a football message board, writing these long-winded diatribes that nobody will read because your position is already known. I can sum up most of your positions with a few sentences. Instead of writing a masters level thesis, expounding over the minutiae perhaps say something like, "empirical evidence suggests..."JohnStOnge wrote:In other words, as usual, you guys have no real argument. We know how you feel.
1) you think blacks have low IQs
2) you hate Trump
3) you claim to be a libertarian
4) you like to fish
5) you think Tesla is ridiculous b/c it doesn't take into consideration people like you who drive 1000 miles instead of flying or other means of transportation
6) you think animals are dumb, un feeling animals
You saying nothing new. Never.

Re: Nice Work, CID
Even if you're wrong it's still the non-issue its always been, even moreso while we're promoting yet another regime change for an oil pipeline. The issue is Trump's business ties to the "bankers" that were, in his son's words, "money pouring in from Russia". The DNC fucked up the easiest election in our history and they need to at long last, stop pointing the finger; nobody believes them .CID1990 wrote:There's nothing to the Russia investigation. That's my take at this point.Skjellyfetti wrote:
I thought McMaster was the one that pushed for his removal and Trump personally stepped in to stop it.
Cohen-Watnick and Ellis appear to be leading an effort among White House staff to find anything in the intelligence to justify Trump's tweets and distract from the Russia investigation. That's jmo, though.
The FBI is investigating evidence that has already been made widely available in the IC.... by Ms. Rice. I find it extremely hard to believe that hard evidence of collusion would be so well tended at this point.
I could be wrong, but there's a lot of body language out there indicating that there's no fire in terms of the Trumpers playing with theRussians to throw the election.
There may be some individual wrongdoing on the part of Flynn, and if there is I certainly hope he pays for it, because I'd surely be in jail.
BTW- your comment on Cohen-Watnick is immaterial. Every administration shills dirt on the previous one. If there's no "there" there, then what do C-W's motivations matter?
Finally, it was the CIA that was behind the push to remove C-W. Twice. The second time they advised McMaster they would rather have someone else in the job and he went upstairs with it. He's a Flynn guy and that could be the simple explanation. But the timing is suspicious. BTW- the WaPo takes your stance and in the same article confirms the CIA push:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/na ... story.html
The irony here is that WaPo and other outlets don't realize it yet, but they are helping ... not hurting...the Trumpers. When they realize what is happening they'll page five all of this- because when the FBI comes back with no Russia collusion all that will be left is.... Trump saying "See? Told ya!"
And Susan Rice
