Re: NHL
ESPN has decided to sandbag the NHL because it doesn't "test well" in the markets they want. but they'll continue to cram 20 NBA (not all that much more popular, esp in terms of passionate fan bases, and esp in terms of households with cable) games a week down the maw... or 2500 hours of obsessing over someones "length and wingspan" in the act of stupidity that is the NFL Draft, or the freaking AFL, or the freaking WNBA... yeesh.UNHWildCats wrote:im sure ESPN would love to air games, but they felt the price was to high for the broadcast rights.
I dont know what NBC is allowed to broadcast... I believe they had a weekly game during the regular season Its possible they will pick up some coverage in later rounds... and I believe they do the finals.
I've never really understood their hockey hate either... with Barry Melrose, Bucci and Gary Thorne they could have a GREAT hockey package...
I think it has to do with 15 years of having New York and Boston sucking the bag... since we all know that if it doesnt happen in the northeast... it's obviously not important.

Re: NHL
the pens/flyers series is shaping up to be the best in the east (too bad about the mon/bos series... would love to see the habs win)
the flames/hawks looks to have the intensity of a classic 3-6 series (which is strange because 4-5's tend to disappoint) last nights game didn't disappoint, that's for sure.

Re: NHL
typical Boston fan...
never heard thing one about the B's from you until they became a 1 seed in the playoffs...
worse still... gloating about thrashing an 8 seed is like Montana gloating about beating ISU... it's unseemly and absurd.
call me when you guys are playing for Lord Stanley's... when was the last time that happened? 1990? hell the NORTH STARS have played for a cup more recently, and they haven't even been a team for 16 years!

doesnt matter what the seeds are when its the Bruins and Canadiens... heck just last season it was total opposite Montreal #1 Bruins #8 and the Bruins took them to the 7th game anything can happen when these two teams play....TwinTownBisonFan wrote:typical Boston fan...

Its like Red Sox/Yankees doesnt matter how good one is or bad the other is, you can never count one out in a game against them.
As for the accusation to start your post... I'll admit im not a big hockey fan, but I follow them closely win or lose... generally when there losing the only thing to talk about is how much of a fuck wad Jeremy Jacobs is, was and forever will be... go look around, those posts do exist with my name on them.

PS... since we're taking shots at each other I should have signed off my previous post with this...
Typical Minnesotta fan, not remembering what success is like all they can do is be jealous of the teams and fans of Sportstown USA.
Your players have to go to Boston or New York to even whiff contention.

Re: NHL
as a bruins fan I am happy to see them beat the crap out of montreal. Last year we had the nice 8vs1 7 game series between them.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:the pens/flyers series is shaping up to be the best in the east (too bad about the mon/bos series... would love to see the habs win)

I think the CAR/NJ series could get a little interesting and the Washington/NYR series. If Washington wins on the road again and heads home with a little momentum it will be exciting to see what happens.

Re: NHL
i really wasn't going for the whole pro-sports smack thing per se... it was more of a gripe about johnny-come-lately fans who front run with teams in their town... Boston has been the chief offender of late, but it's not unique to them.
it happens in MN too... there are plenty of people at Twins games who couldn't name a single player on the team between the time puckett retired and 2001... (I had season tickets in 99 and 2000 for about $100 for 81 games)
in my case, i'd never pretend to be more than a passing Vikings fan (i don't like the nfl) but I wouldn't run around like their biggest fan if they somehow went deep in the postseason.
I heard a rumor about MN having a basketball team... I think they might have been talking about the Lakers, since we haven't had one in the NBA since they left in 1960... but in all seriousness, I was equally annoyed with this town loving on the Wolves in 04 when they made their run... since nobody in this city even knew we had a team from their founding until then.

Re: NHL
The prices the TWolves charge doesn't help their cause any. I went to a game of their for spring break in 07, I bought a $10 ticket that was 3 rows from the ceiling of the damn place. I snuck down to the lower level seats that I figured were probably 50-70 bucks. Turns out they were like $150-200 seats, yet they still sucked. Shitty teams should charge fans appropriately.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:i really wasn't going for the whole pro-sports smack thing per se... it was more of a gripe about johnny-come-lately fans who front run with teams in their town... Wow!! What a game four between the Canes and Devils. Carolina goes up 3-0 only to see the Devils tie it up in the 3rd. Canes score with .2 left on the clock to win 4-3. Phew. Definitely needed that one after the previous two went to OT.
The RBC Center is loud as f*ck.
Now to give thanks and prostrate myself in front of my Ronnie Franchise signed puck.

Columbus made a little comeback, but they were still swept. I thought Pitt would of closed it out at home, but Philly had a good game. Not really a surprise anymore, but Anaheim gets another win over San Jose.
