With 1,000+ yards and 17TDs while splitting carries in the Pac 10 last year....Yeah he'll have a hard time finding a place to go.

That's funny for two reasons. No one would notice because the team is a bunch of thugs and no one would notice b/c they never get any media attention.

He's not going anywhere. Word is he will miss the Purdue game and the Utah game and be back in a Duck uniform for the Cal game.DuckDuckGriz wrote:With 1,000+ yards and 17TDs while splitting carries in the Pac 10 last year....Yeah he'll have a hard time finding a place to go.

Any word on criminal charges? Assault and Battery?

The split second before the "sucker punch"... doesn't Hout look so happy? Obviously he wasn't smiling much a split second later

Re: LaGarrett Blount... classless punk
I thought it was more of a slap on the shoulder pad myself. An attention getter to the player who said that Boise deserved an ass-whooping, then went out and got tackled for a safety, could not pick up a first down on fourth down (twice) and finished with -5 yards (that's right, negative) for the game. You talk the talk, you should be prepared to walk the walk.JMU DJ wrote:JALMOND wrote:

Yeah, but I also have to agree from the other perspective that Hout should have just done his talking on the field and let it go after the game.... still, Blount comes out looking worse in this situation.

Just in, ESPN reported that Hout won't be suspended by Boise State. Classless, yes, but I have to say, based on the above post, I'd have a hard time not going up to Blount and say that we whooped your ass again.JALMOND wrote:I thought it was more of a slap on the shoulder pad myself. "Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

The blonde coach hauling Blount into the locker room...former UNI coach Scott Frost....yep the same scott Frost that played at Nebraska.

as for the Boise player dropping... a sucker punch to the jaw would do that to the toughest guys...

Kelly showed some real class by suspending Blount for the year. Class and guts. Oregon will still honor Blount's scholarship, in a sense keeping Blount the student. Only suspended Blount the player.

Re: LaGarrett Blount... classless punk
neither player/team showed good judgment and if you want my the coach would have had him off the team, for good, first thing this morning..... or sooner
I would also have some disciplinary action against the other player(s) if I were their coach.
The Boise player deserves something to reinforce to the team that this is not tolerated behavior. But hell, who am I?

I'm glad he was suspended for the remainder of the year... some lessons are learned the hard way. He just fucked over his potential for the NFL. Don't talk shit if you can't back it up. By the way, Hout would have owned Blount had it been a fair fight... total cheap shot.JALMOND wrote:Prelim reports had him missing only two games.DuckDuckGriz wrote:

I think the punch is enough for Hout, getting dropped (sucker punch or not) on National TV is enough to teach him to not talk smack. Or at least do it with a helmet on.

Are you nuts?? Crazy or not, Blount is a manchild. Hout would drop like a doll the same way he did on national television.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:I'm glad he was suspended for the remainder of the year... some lessons are learned the hard way. Re: LaGarrett Blount... classless punk
I'm not surprised. To be honest Jalmond, things aren't handled differently at UO OSU or PSU. All three programs have recruited "thugs" and Oregon State is certainly no example. You proved my point that much of your bitterness stems from UO getting the majority of attention on both here and anygivensaturday, and rightfully so (College GameDay on campus twice in one season, a better bowl last year, better facilities, bigger fanbase)JALMOND wrote:Prelim reports had him missing only two games.DuckDuckGriz wrote:

Keeping Blount on the team means he still has to go to class, pass his classes, be at all team meetings, all practices, etc...CatMom wrote:neither player/team showed good judgment and if you want my the coach would have had him off the team, for good, first thing this morning..... or sooner

Kick him off the team and he leaves school and lives his life doing what he wants. This way his punishment is having to do the football commitment without getting to play the games. I think it was a good way to do it.

Re: LaGarrett Blount... classless punk
I know. It is rough having Blount and his actions representing your school on national TV as well as my state. I've pointed out, if he would have stopped at the punch, that is a two game suspension, and I would have been fine with that. But it was his Artest meltdown that I felt embarrassed the Duck program and the state in general. And I will still have the bitterness towards the U of O as long as the Portland media considers the Ducks THE only college program worth covering. Case in point, all week, even with two in state DI programs playing each other, the Portland media (including both sports talk radio stations) hyped the Ducks opener and ignored both the Beavers and the Vikings. Consequently Friday was devoted to the fallout with the Ducks and nothing on the Beavers or the Vikings. Saturday was the same as well. Once you leave the University, you will realize that any publicity the Vikings can generate in Portland is and always will be good for the Big Sky conference and FCS.DuckDuckGriz wrote:I'm not surprised. I'm sure we at PSU have had our share of questionable characters, but the only incident I can recall was the Mexico spring break involving two of our basketball players. From what I know of them, they both were far from the "thug" label. From what I found out in my research was that a guy got beat up by a big man and a little man. The Mexican police rounded up a big man and a little man. Everyone was drunk which is pretty much the norm for college kids in Mexico on spring break. Charges were dropped against the PSU basketball players the next day. The civil suit filed against them in Michigan by the one who got beat up was dismissed for lack of evidence. I'm not saying they did or did not do it, but based on the type of kids they are, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. I was ashamed of this incident and tried to research it fully (and kept reporting my findings on AGS), but this was what I found out. This is far from the antics of Blount (both what he did after the game and before).
