And in 10 years he'll be like the 30th highest paid QB of all time, and possibly lower. Silly inflation.

Of the QBs #1-20 on that list, how many of them (and which ones) would you pass over to pick Flacco as your QB?
Are you talking about 2019 Flacco? If you're talking heyday...

Terry Bradshaw
Ben Roethlisberger
Donovan McNabb
Jim Plunkett
Eli Manning
Russell Wilson

for sure. Others maybe.
Flacco over the course of his career (the good and the bad) vs. the others over the course of their careers. Who would you want as the QB to build your franchise around?

Terry Bradshaw - Bradshaw's hard to rank because of the talent and coaching on those Steelers teams but he was pretty consistently good and has 4 Super Bowls. I'd go with Bradshaw.

Ben Roethlisberger - I take Ben hands down.

Donovan McNabb - McNabb didn't fade into mediocrity after his big contract but I'd rather have a Super Bowl win over consistently above average play so I'd take Flaccco too.

Jim Plunkett -I'd have to look at Plunkett's stats but I remember him being a pedestrian QB who had a really good run or two so he's similar to Flacco. So if my memory is correct it's close to a wash.

Eli Manning - had two great runs compared to Flacco's one. Flacco was more consistently average or better but I would rather have 2 Super Bowl wins than 1 so I would take Manning

Russell Wilson - too soon to tell but my gut tells me Wilson will be more consistently good or better than Flacco was.

FWIW, career playoff QBR...

Joe Flacco 88.6
Eli Manning 87.4
Ben Roethlisberger 86.5
Terry Bradshaw 83.0
Jim Plunkett 81.9
Donovan McNabb 80.0

Got to hand it to Joe, he was/is one heckuva playoff QB. And most of it was on the road through all those years. Maybe marching through the Gateway Conference on the road back in his college days helped get him ready for that?

Amazing that he's #10 in playoff wins in one year.

What is his QBR without 2012? Who played a bigger part in winning those games the other years? Flacco or the Raven's defense? Flacco had a great run in 2012. Eli had great runs in 2007 & 2011.

I don't know if I can find a site where you selectively cherry pick seasons.

Eli 12 playoff games with 18 TD and 9 INT
Flacco 15 playoff games with 25 TD and 10 INT

Eli's like the Florida Marlins - he sucks in general and then goes on a run out of the blue. He had 15 TD and 2 INT in his two great years.

Take away 2012 and Flacco had 14 TD and 10 INT and looks a lot more pedestrian.

So you want to only use Eli's good years and throw out Flacco's. Check.

Not at all. I think Flacco was a better QB year-to-year. Eli pretty much sucked outside of his 2 great years while Flacco was pedestrian outside of his 1 great year. As a fan I would take Eli's 2 great years over Flacco's 1 great year.

I think most teams would rather win 2 superbowls than one... Yes

:geek:

Note: Joe Flacco never threw 25 interceptions in one season (Eli did)
that is historically bad - and he did it a few times... led the league in interceptions too many times

So yes, you only want the two good years. You just said it.

Oh, and Cousins 94.8, which makes this stat as worthless as Wins in baseball.

Correct. I rattled off the ones who I would choose Flacco over even before I looked at playoff QBR. Wilson was the only one on my list who had a higher playoff QBR. Pretty damn good for just making a quick list. :geek:

My own observation: Flacco is better than Case Keenum.
