Wow you never got the Australia Plan to work? You hold Australia, then bee-line it into North America. Works every time.GannonFan wrote:I didn't say I or anyone ever held Asia, I'm just saying the board said if you did you would get 7 armies. Never would happen until the end game and there were only two people left. Me, I liked making a fortress out of Australia. It never worked, but it was fun to have a tiny corner of the world that was all mine for awhile.SDHornet wrote: I call bull ****. No one holds Asia in Risk...ever.

Re: Olympics!!!!!!
Thing is someone has to sacrifice their entire game to knock someone out of the Australia Plan otherwise the whole game is a loss for everyone else. Once held, there are literally no desirable countries near Australia since it would mean actually trying to hold Asia for its massive continent bonus. At that point you rack up the Australia bonus (and standard turn bonus) and take one country a turn to get a card (say for like 3 turns). Then you cash in the cards and run around the Pacific rim.GannonFan wrote:I blame the dice, I was unlucky.SDHornet wrote: Wow you never got the Australia Plan to work? I've never played Risk. I've always wanted to but never had a friend that wanted to play.SDHornet wrote:You're just jealous you never figured that strategy out.Ibanez wrote:
But it reminded me of a game that my friend Greg made in the 8th grade. We had to come up with a game or something for History class and Greg made, Chernobyl. Complete with cards, nuclear meltdown, a siren, etc...

Risk is for making enemies and having your kids in tears. Has there ever been a game of Risk played that didn't result in shouting or tears?Grizalltheway wrote:Risk is for plebs.

Re: Olympics!!!!!!
I loved Axis and Allies, but most of the fun was setting the game up, not in the strategy. Just like the real war, Germany was screwed once they brought Russia in and only getting an advanced technology was going to change that. Besides, if you happened to be anyone other than Russia or Germany in that game you spent a great deal of the first hour just watching. Granted, a bit true to life, but still a tedious game.Grizalltheway wrote:Risk is for plebs.
