It was his non-throwing hand anyway. Halladay would've gutted it out and stayed in the game. Hamels - such a California boy.93henfan wrote:Hamels with a contusion only. Shouldn't miss a start. Howard breaks the shutout with a 2-run homer in the 9th. Small consolation in 5-2 loss. But we did take the series.

Howard with the clutch 2-run go-ahead hit in the top of the ninth today. Say what you want about the guy. He's pretty damn clutch.
Kendrick gets through a start and the Phils get a W. Can't ask for much more than that. Halladay gets to pitch in Toronto tomorrow for the first time since leaving the Jays.

Doc Halladay strikes again, beating his former teammates 5-3 in Toronto. Utley gets the big late HR this time!

this sad mets fan is willing to admit that the only way this team loses the division is if two of their big three pitchers get hurt and have to miss 5+ starts

This BRAVES fan knows that the failees missed their chance to run and hide with the East while the Braves were without several of their best players. The National League East Championship WILL return to the Southern Confederacy THIS season.

The cotton-picking Braves are playing above their heads right now and still can't seem to make up any ground. The Braves seem to be the team that can't capitalize on all the Phillies' injury problems.

Vance Worley gettin' it done!
Old Dirty Bastardo finishes strong.
It would be nice to get a little more offense. How about getting us a bat, Reuben?

Dan Uggla to the failees in exchange for a lame horse.

Re: Phillies Parade
Atlanta is right in this race at this point, and they have had a lot of injuries to deal with themselves. Martin Prado, who is probably the best baseball player on the club, has been out for quite some time now. Also, Dan Uggla is a guy they were counting on to hit a lot of homers and drive in a lot of runs, has been pure dog crap all season long. Yet, they are only 3-4 games back right now.
The Braves starting pitching has pretty much been every bit as good as Philly's, and they arguably have the best bullpen in the bigs.
Some of those missing parts start to click in the second half for Atl, they will be very tough to beat, and I would be worried if I were a phillies fan.

The Braves will be a fine wildcard team. We'd be proud to host and beat them in another NLCS.

Re: Phillies Parade
Hey, gotta give credit to the Braves, they are having a great year. Only 3 teams with 50+ wins right now and two of those teams reside in the NL East. Phils are 4 up on the Braves who themselves are 4 up on the second place wild card team. I'd actually be shocked at this point if the Braves don't make the playoffs (and really, outside of injuries to the Phils top 3 pitchers, there's no way they aren't making the playoffs).
With that said, the Phils have been a second half team for years now. The fact that they've managed to weather all the injuries they've had and weathered their normal May/June slump and are still playing .628 ball says quite a lot. Only 9 games left between the Braves and Phils for the season - not sure that's going to be enough for the Braves to pull close.

True. Injuries come with the territory. Phils playing without Victorino and Polanco tonight. Madson and Lidge still on the DL. Oswalt gone until probably August, Joe Blanton still gone. Utley out the first couple of months. This team might be ridonkulous once everyone is back.DJH wrote:Wins a win.93henfan wrote:

That was a BS call on Dom Brown missing 2nd base. Hello replay. Took away what would have been the winning run.

The umpiring in this series sucked, both teams have legit complaints. Instant replay would have helped, but I don't think we'll see it anytime soon.93henfan wrote:Win two, lose one
