To your point, there was also a LARGE sect of people who voted for Obama because of his skin color. They didn't care, or even know necessarily, what his views were. All they cared was he was black and they wanted to say that they voted for the first black president.

That's a vote differential of 15,102,720 --- JUST FOR THE AFRICAN AMERICAN VOTE. Overall Obama got 69,456,897 votes, McCain got 59,934,814. So, in the NON-African American demographic, McCain beat Obama 59,278,194-53,697,537.
