Atheist billboard defaced on N.C.'s Billy Graham Parkway

Unknown vandals unhappy about atheists' billboard in Charlotte, N.C., spray-painted "Under God" on the ad, the city's atheist association discovered Monday. The defaced message will remain in place until after July 4, the group reports, which is the soonest that workers can furnish a fresh billboard image.

If somebody proved (somehow) that God didn't exist - it wouldn't change a single enjoyable moment in my life

True existentialism - living in the moment - does not preclude healthy choices or common sense as you might have us believe and Atheism does not mean "nothing matters" as you might have us believe

It doesn't matter because it is of no importance. The process of living always has the same inevitable ending. You can kid yourself into temporary enjoyment but not if you contemplate the inevitable. Death is your destiny.

Also,prior to that inevitable death, there is no reason why someone else shouldn't make your life miserable if they are capable of it. And in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter if they do. If there is a Stalin, that's just the way it is. Stalin gets what he wants. So what if a few 10s of millions are murdered in the process? There is nothing intrinsically wrong with that.

All is just the physical. You're just like a spark flying off a sparkler that flashes for a while then disappears. As soon as you exprience any particular enjoyment it is gone. And in the end you are nothing.

You could be right, but why not enjoy the ride since you're here for a while anyway?

I saw this billboard today in Asheville on my way to Johnson City. It was unmolested and even as a Christian, I got no issue with this. UNDER GOD was not added until 1954 and if it was taken out tomorrow, it wouldn't upset me or "shake my faith" in the slightest. Man, these types of Christians who get this upset because people don't agree him their point of view...........I mean did they not read the Bible when Christ specifically stated that following him was NOT going to be easy? Did these people think that just because they had that "good old time feeling" that the world was gonna cater to their halo? Nut up, continue your walk with God and quit worrying about a freaking billboard. Last time I looked, even atheists had inalienable rights endowed by their Creator, whether they acknowledge Him or not. Peace!
