You don't have to feel guilty... you have no reason to. I don't think anyone's telling you that you should feel guilty... and if you don't... you're a racist.
I think what this thread is about is some **** bigot that believes Native Americans are "morally disqualified to govern." That's racism. No?
All I said was there are racist that live near the reservations, aka "No Indians Allowed" painted on buildings in Scenic South Dakota when I filled up with gas there, living in Devils Lake, ND and seeing how the locals treated the Natives and a completely different story living in Hastings, MN and seeing the Casino employ thousands of people, but the Natives are still despised by the locals.
My point, that no one is getting, is that there are many people that are suffering through crime, drugs, alcohol and poverty. The government assistance they are getting is not working. When I lived in Omaha, I had a good friend that grew up on the Pine Ridge Res. He had a lot of stories of getting beat by drunk parents, seeing all the adults in the community doing the same thing. Joining the drinking party at an early age. He got out, has a nice family, good job, but still had a battle staying away from the fire-water. IMO, more is done for the innner-city than for people on the reservations, and I'm sure it's because there are more votes in the inner-city.
Being part Cherokee and growing up on the Res are worlds apart.
