UNI is in a much better spot, geographically, for the B12...assuming UNI could get a B12 stadium, find millions and millions of dollars for the athletic budget, and blah blah blah.

UNI would be the perfect in-state rival for Iowa State, and is very much in the footprint with Mizzou, Kansas, Kansas State......


But it won't happen, and I'm not a retard so I don't dream and spout off about it.

Oh, and I checked the numbers...for NDSU to go B12, they have to more than double their athletic budget (14 million) TO EVEN MATCH THE LOWEST B12 SCHOOL Iowa State....and Iowa State is FAR below every other school.


It will take much much more than 5 or 6 million dollars.


EDIT: NDSU's athletic budet is only 500K more than UNI's, and UNI had more in revenue than NDSU by about 250K....NDSU is financially in no better shape than UNI.

Lakes 90% of the time I'm fine with you but this Big 12 crap, it is just too over the top. As far as the FBS is concerned we aren't even in the the freaking WAC or MAC, there is no way the Big 12 is just going to add an FCS school, they'll raid the MWC first.

I've never said I was against the FBS but until I see a realistic scenario that gives us something better than what the MVFC can deliver I have no problem with staying where we are at.

Well I don't think you want to read my percentage regarding your posts. I called lakes out because this thread is asinine and I'm tired of this FBS bs. If somebody has a credible rumor or speculation fine, post away but I'm tired of people just grasping for straws. It almost comes off as desperate and NDSU fans shouldn't be desperate.

We are in a good stable conference, I'm tired of a few fans being so conceited that they run the MVFC and FCS down constantly. Doing so isn't going to move us forward any faster, all it does is make the fanbase look like a bunch of arrogant douchebags. I think you are talking about about the liklyhood of an invitation? There is no liklyhood of an invitation so I agree, on that level the comparison is not valid. VNVA had a lot going for it but football facilites werent high on that list. They are certainly well below NDSU standards. I was addressing the issue from the level of facilities.

We talked about this earlier in the summer and from memory Nova only draws 8,000 or so in a stadium much smaller (12,000?) than even the mythical FBS standard of 15,000.

Certainly for Basketball and other sports the NDSU facilites offer quality and appropiate scaling options. For football the Fabulous Fargo Dome is too small for the Big 12 but fine for WAC or MAC. NDSU needs 30,000 for the Big 12. A facility like they have at Wyoming would do it. What about the Fabulous Fargo Dome you say? As long as we are speculating it would become a hockey rink for NDSU hockey.

Get an invite from the WCHA, have the hockey crowd really going, and then get them to support a new football stadium that could be used to attract an invitation from an FBS conference. Fargo could get excited about something like that and the Dome Authority is just waiting in the wings with 50 mill for an opportunity of that nature. Cross your fingers, maybe the Big-12?

An enitre new bunch of BISON fans. But a year, year and a half ago, it shut down for a long time and has never recovered. Too Bad. It was a unique and vibrant place with pleanty of fans from the Dakota Big 3, UND and of course all of our opponents.

After it started back up it floundered. A few posters welcomed it back and there were some great information pieces posted but a few ugly fans from BV came over and then the crickets started.
