The reason UM was able to limit Mitchell to some extent in both games was because of great play from the UM defensive line and a great secondary. I don't see either of those as a strength for the 2012 Griz....the defensive strength will be the LB's, by a very long ways.

The fact the defensive strength is the LB's doesn't necessarily mean the other two areas are taking huge steps back...We don't necessarily have a shutdown corner now, but I like the overall depth of the secondary better this year.

Well, if you say so. But again, it's hard to imagine UM's corners being better this season than they were in 2011, or even 2010 with Johnson and Wilson.

And I don't think the rest of the defense will take a huge step back, UM always does a good job of re-loading and as always the depth will be there. But it won't be anywhere near the defense UM fielded the past couple of years, I can pretty much guarantee that one. That many players new to the first team is HUGE. :twocents:

Like I said, we don't necessarily have that one shutdown corner...it's a little hard to replace a guy who's going to be playing on Sundays this fall, after all....and btw, when Wilson came back, he played safety. :|
