Gitmo needs to close because it is a symbol of American hate to terrorists. The torture practiced there and elsewhere have caused others who would have never joined the terrorist cause to join. American military interrogators who don't use torture have pointed this out. Some even believe that about half of the troops in Iraq have died as a result of torturing. Brothers and friends of those tortured decided to fight because good ole America isn't supposed to torture people.

Some of these prisoners are being held without being charged. That is wrong. The others who waiting trail should be kept locked up, just not at Gitmo. I don't think they should all be set free but the "idea" of Gitmo needs to be closed.

"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

Only a matter of time...The decision to release additional case studies from the report is in effect a warning shot to the new president from officials at the Pentagon and U.S. intelligence agencies who are skeptical about some of his plans. Some Pentagon officials, including ones sympathetic to Obama's goals, note the political outcry would be deafening should another example like Al-Shihri become public six months from now—and it turns out to be a Guantanamo detainee released under Obama's watch rather than by the Bush administration. "The last thing Obama wants is for one of these guys [at Guantanamo] to get released and return to killing Americans," said one senior Defense Department official who asked not to be identified because of the political sensitivities

Had Bushie done anything I thought was worth agreeing with, I would have had the balls to do the same.
It is wrong, and I believe a violation of the UN, to have held them this long without charges.
