Trackwrestling currently shows UNI in 9th with 24.5 points. Cornell is 4th with 37.5 points.

Penn St leads with 58.5 points.

Not sure. I figured out the tourney scoring system, 1 point for a win (consy wins are 0.5 points), 1 bonus point for MD, 1.5 bonus points for TF and 2 bonus points for pin. Also, you get 6 placement points for winning quarterfinal match, so the scores are changing a lot this round. UNI might have been 4th after Colon's win

Then how do you explain his #4 finish last year? Ugi wasn't even able to wrestle competitively this season until the season was more than half finished, thanks to the NCAA.
More than half finished? He was 22-5 coming in, that's 27 matches. The #1 seed and the #2 wrestled 28 each. You're making excuses. He wasn't as good this year, probably didn't work hard enough.
I don't know where you are getting your numbers. He wasn't reinstated until the SoCon schedule started. He missed all of the big pre-conference tournaments. He did wrestle a few matches as an UA, but those don't count as NCAA matches and they are usually against lesser competition.

Trackwrestling and the Citadel website. He's been back for 2 mouths. He missed November and December, but the team didn't wrestle much in December (they had 3 weeks off).

He's had plenty of time to get in shape. The NCAA issues are not a valid excuse. I'm sure he'd be the first person to tell you that too. I'll cut the guy some slack (my STB comment was out of line), he had a bad draw and a bad day. It could happen to anyone.

Me missed almost all of January too. Trackwrestling and The Citadel web site count all matches that he wrestled, even those as a UA.

So...what you are saying is he still wrestled as many matches at the rest of the guys?

Nope. UA do not count as NCAA sanctioned matches and they are typically against 2nd and 3rd-rate opponents.

He was on the mat practicing, he was on the mat wrestling, you can't use conditioning as an excuse. He wrestled at the Southern Scuffle on January 1, the fact that he was UA at the time means nothing, he got the same level of competition. Stop making excuses.

If you are UA you can't wrestle in a dual, and you can't wrestle in an invitational tourney. You can wrestle in open tournaments. The matches count, the UA label is irrelevant.

Bullshit. You are bracketed into the tourney just like everybody else. There is no UA section. You have no idea what you are talking about, but what else is new.

Also, Devin Carter of VT missed more time than Ugi, and he made it to the semi's. Obviously conditioning wasn't a problem for him. I guess only Citadel guys have conditioning issues.

He claims Penn State...not Citadel.

The Citadel isn't big time so they aren't worth claiming.

He claims Penn State for Grad School. Either way, it's a dick move on his part. :coffee:

watched the first few semifinal matches tonight.
reaffirmed that I am not really much into wrestling.
seemed rather boring to watch.
mostly just who could grab whose leg, and then about 5 minutes of one guy sitting on top of another guy.

Congrats on the three so far. Loder has tough match, but a win is possible.

Durso is the only Franklin & Marshall wrestler to make the tourney this year. Rick is a junior and this is his third trip to the championship tourney. Last year he came up just short of AA, this year he is the 12 seed at 141. Good luck Rick!
Durso wins both matches today to advance to quarter finals for second straight year. Needs one more win to medal. Won second match 3-2 over #5 seed Chris Mecate of ODU, riding time turned out to be the decisive point.
Durso loses tough 4-3 match to Devin Carter in quarters, but comes back to win consy match and become an All-American. :thumb:

was disappointed for Joe with the way that match went.

He got caught very early putting him in a big hole (4 points just 4 seconds in). Graf went into full stall mode and no ref was going to call it as much as they should this time of year

Loder loses so it stays with 3.

Didn't see the match since I'm putting the kid to bed but at a 6 5 final sounds like it was a exciting match

That was tough match. I was hoping he would come back, but you're right, Graff spent whole third period doing nothing but staying of his back.

PA has always had outstanding high school wrestling, but I was real surprised to read PSU has now won 4 national titles in a row.

Sorry, I don't follow college wrestling very closely.
