Man. Man oh Man. I would have NEVER forgiven myself if I'd fcuked THAT up.....and the sucky part is, Qualls is one of my two closers in fantasy baseball! Fortunately for me, I also picked up Upton off the scrap heap two days ago!!!

Bryan Augenstein has been called up from AA to start on Wednesday.
Jesus. We're diggin' pretty deep into the well, here.
With Webb and Petit on the DL...not sure why they are going with him, instead of a AAA pitcher...
Augenstein will have his contract selected from Double-A Mobile in order to start Wednesday's game against the Reds. The right-hander, who will be making his Major League debut, is taking the spot of Yusmeiro Petit, who in turn was taking the spot of injured ace Brandon Webb in the rotation. In five starts this year, Augenstein was 5-0 with a 0.78 ERA. Augenstein went a combined 7-5 with a 2.74 in 2008, splitting the season between Arizona's two Class A level teams. He was the team's seventh-round pick out of the University of Florida in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.

Maybe they think he's the next Mark Reynolds.

D-Backs reached a new low last night, losing 13-5 to the Reds. It wasn't the score, so much as the lacadaisical way they (especially Eric Byrnes) played the game. You'd have thought they had a 10 game lead with 8 to play. Right now, EVERY team in the National League looks better, more prepared, and more focused than the lowly D-Backs. Embarrassing...

Justin Upton hits TWO 3-run HR's, Mark Reynolds hits two solo shots, and D-Backs garner a split of their doubleheader with Florida tonight. In their last three games D-Backs have scored 12, 7, and 11 runs....that's a welcome sign from the crap we were seeing over the first 6 weeks of the season.

I think we've got a keeper in Parra as well. I'm kind of liking the top half of our lineup right now:
Lopez
Parra
Upton
Drew
Reynolds
Even Byrnes has figured out (apparently) that he needs to hit more than .190 to keep a job. On 5/7, his average sat at .139, after a pathetic 0-15 and 2-30 slump. Since then, he's 14-38 and has raised his average to .216.
Chris Young, on the other hand, needs to go down to Reno and figure out WTF happened to his swing.

Meh....I'd rather Byrnes keep figuring it out like he has the past two weeks (mental errors in the field aside)...he's got way more "upside" than CoJack. At his best, Byrnes is a .270/25/100/100/30 guy. At HIS best, CoJack is probably a .270/15/85/85/5 guy.

Byrnes is too much a head case, and his "defense" almost cost the Dbacks two games this series.

Byrnes will never reach his best.
At his best, Byrnes will win more games with his bat than he will lose with his glove. CoJack is the biggest underperformer on the team (outside of Young, who is just abysmal now).
