And gets shot down by a wide margin, of course 175-252

Kudos to the Dems and Republicans who voted for the amendment - notably...

Ocasio-Cortez
Jim Jordan
Tulsi Gabbard

I discussed this with my LP friends on FB yesterday. As for AOC, even a blind pig finds an acorn once in awhile.
That’s true she’s a blind squirrel since she would gut civil liberties in just about every other venue

Yeah, I guess it should have been blind pigs finding a truffle. My bad.

My Delaware LP friends have been Facebooking about the “thin bench” of potential 2020 nominees. While many are reluctant to pick another former Republican, Amash is far and away the best available candidate, should he decide to take the plunge. At least one Trumptard is primarying him in Michigan, and an early poll shows the Trumptard ahead.

I may be an alternate delegate to the 2020 Libertarian National Convention in May. I’m on the state party board right now. I’ll know by March 14, the date of the state convention.

Look out, Austin!

But Libertarians now hate Amash since he doesn't drink the Trump koolaid like the rest.

WTF are you talking about? Lots of us want him to seek our nomination. I think he loves the NYT/WaPo press clippings he’s getting, but he’s generally true to the LP Statement of Principles.

He is true to Libertarianism. So maybe there are a lot of Republicans out there masquerading as Libertarians as long as their vote isn't needed for the GOP.

No, I’m sure Jon’s right. He’s been so spot on about everything politics over the past 4-5 years...I’m sure he’s got his finger on the pulse of Trump and Amash supporters....

I don't think I'd want the Libertarian Party in control of either chamber in Congress. But, I wouldn't have any problem with a libertarian or Libertarian as President. POTUS is a perfect office for a libertarian, imo.

As President, they would have a much easier time implementing their socially/civilly liberal positions and a more difficult time implementing their fiscally conservative positions.

Voted for a Libertarian candidate in 2016. Hopefully I won't feel the need again, but would have no problem doing so.
If you're in North Carolina please vote for the Democrat whoever it turns out to be. North Carolina could be in play. If you live there you are fortunate in that your vote could matter. And we really do need to rid this country of Trump.

In Illinois these day, sadly.

Do have a consequential House race (IL-13) but, other than that vote doesn't matter on too much nationally.

It’s impossible for dyed-in-the-bush Democrats like yourself to become Libertarians. You can have all the multigendered sex and dope smoking you want, but you flunk the small-government part.

Buh-bye.

Is there a libertarian candidate in the 13th? If not, Davis is probably quite a bit closer to libertarian than Londrigan. Are you voting for him?

No, there isn't a libertarian candidate that has announced.

And, no way in hell I'm voting for Davis

Why not? That sounds pretty closed-minded and illiberal.

Saw a post on my State LP message board yesterday to the effect that Amash just purchased a life membership in the Libertarian Party.

Stay tuned.

Let’s face it

If you are a fiscal conservative and a strict Constitutionalist you really are in the wilderness no matter whether you are a Dem or a Republican

That’s why I left. But for the string of unknowns/flakes/unknown flakes that the LP offered for POTUS before Johnson, I would have left sooner.

I get it .... you can’t be libertarian if you don’t allow the kooks

But the kooks would allow for an Amash or a Lee... because it would be their only real alternative AND they’d get what they want -

Of course they would. The LP wants to become a major force in politics, but members realize that they have to build from the ground up, with candidates for state and local offices. What good is an Amash, Lee, or Massie if they run once, flame out, and don’t do any party-building? My problem with Amash is that he’s reading his own fawning liberal press clippings. If I wanted to, I could get the nomination for state attorney general tomorrow.
