Well, here's a full day ahead of people in Philly just going on and on about how the Phils suck and don't have a prayer in the postseason. At least it will be something different than Philly fans talking about how much they hate Andy Reid and the Eagles.

On another note, maybe the only person more annoying to listen to than Wheeler would be Ricky Bottalico - man is like a yo-yo, loves the Phils when they win, and rips the Phils mercilessly when they lose. And for a guy who was just a decent reliever he sure tries to come across as a man who knows everything - not sure how he's qualified to talk about swing mechanics.
So where will you be singing Kumbaya today? It must be weird to live in a sportsfan world where you're not allowed to boo or show any discontent, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Were you the guy golf clapping for the good efforts from Rob Schoenhoft?

Didn't realize I said you can't criticize the team or not boo. It's amazing how much typing of other things I must have put between the lines there. On the bright side, I apparently saved a lot of time in that I didn't have to actually type those things while still getting those points across. It's like one big apostrophe.

Seriously though, my point was that the Phils aren't any different today than they were yesterday and since the start of the season. They are the best team in baseball and will probably win 100 games while winning the division with the best record in the NL. And then, come playoff time, as it typical for baseball, they will be no better than even money to beat the Giants or the Braves in a short series, because that's the nature of short series, especially against teams with similar enough pitching. And Hunter Pence, although I'd love to pick him up (and after seeing Brown pretty much be responsible for both runs last night as he lollygagged after that ball in the corner and then butchered the other one), won't change that equation one bit. The Phils could lose to the Giants or Braves in the NLCS. People need to come down off the bridges.

I only boo people who I think could be doing better than they are doing. Kind of like my way of providing incentive for those who are underachieving. Booing Schoenhoft would be like booing a cerebal palsy kid because he couldn't hang with Usain Bolt in a 100m dash. It's just wrong, man, it's just wrong.

I simply stated that four hits is pretty weak. You're the one typing multiparagraph, longwinded posts and imagining what other people think, which is par for your course.

It's sounds kind of weird, but I'm a damn good hunt and pecker myself!

That's been the best part of the internet age for me. I was one slow-typing SOB prior to about 1996 or so.

Agreed - I could never do that whole "put your hands in the right place and not watch your fingers type" - I'm pretty sure if I got laid off from being an engineer I could legitimately be an executive assistant just based on my typing skills. Not exactly a legit fallback position, just saying.

Nah, I was booing Keeler and Ginn for putting the poor kid out there. Just awful of them to set him up to fail like that.

Besides, when are you aware of what people next to you are doing? I seem to remember someone ripping into an OL during the playoffs last year with the guys parents sitting right next to us, jersey and all. I question your ability to recollect details of people sitting next to you with examples like that.

I blame that incident on you GF. Knowing my penchant for being vocal it's beyond me why you didn't feel the need to tell me who was sitting on the other side of you. I remember it vividly, all went well though as we won & the kid didn't screw up again, haha.

Will do - I'll make sure to remember to consistently point out the blatantly obvious stuff to you! :thumb:  If I had a time machine I could go back and tell you to put the flag and flagpole back in the car at the nova game. It's obvious that nova is filled with petty criminals roaming the parking lots during games - I mean, isn't that why the attendance is so low at games in that they're out casing which cars to rob from? See, obvious. :ohno:

Phils just clobbering the Buckos so far. 8-0 in the bottom of the third.

Utley already has a single, triple, and home run. Five more innings to try to get a double for the cycle.

Phillies close to getting Pence?

http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/68172 ... nter-pence
The "headline pieces," in this case, would appear to be the Phillies top pitching prospect, Jarred Cosart, and their top hitting prospect, Jonathan Singleton. The Phillies made those two the centerpieces of their original offer for Pence early this week.

The Phillies' package does not include either outfielder Domonic Brown or rookie starter Vance Worley, sources said.

The Phils broadcast of the Phils-Bucs game just cut away to Pence tearfully hugging Astros teammates in the dugout of the Astros game.

Agreed, on paper, but who knows how a prospect is really going to pan out? Pence is a sure thing. It's pretty damned nice if they get to keep the Vanimal and Brown too. Sounds like a good deal for everyone.

I would take John Boehner if he's a decent right-handed bat. ;)

The deal is DONE. Pence has been pulled from the game in Houston and was hugging and shaking hands with teammates on his way to the clubhouse. Supposedly it's 4 minor leaguers: Cosart, Singleton & 2 others. Both Worley & Brown are not included in the deal.

On the Astros broadcast they can't stop talking about Pence being a Phillie and showed him in a Phillies cap. They keep stating, of course, that it's not official but will be by tomorrow.

It's official. Reuben Amaro already had his press conference.

As I said on another board, Huh? What have the Phils given up? Singleton had no future with the Phils - he's a DH or 1B, period. They tried him in LF and he was abysmal. As Howard is here long term, Singleton wouldn't see the Phils major league lineup for years and years to come, if ever. Cosart is the biggest piece to lose, but he's still just a single-A pitcher with a near .500 record sporting an ERA close to 4.00 - he's far, far from a sure thing, and even then, he's not going to be major league ready for 2-5 years, if ever. And considering that the Phils, once they resign Hamels, will have Hamels, Halladay, and Lee (and now Worley as well) through the 2014 season, they don't need a starting pitcher to come up from the minors for quite some years to come - plenty of time to replace a guy who's been okay in single-A ball this year.

The Phils stole Pence in this trade - 2 very good prospects, but only one with a future in Philly to begin with, they don't give up Worley or Brown, and they even get the Astros to kick in some money to boot, while getting a guy who will bat 5th in this lineup for the next 2.5 years. Amaro's a genius.
