I can't give you the specifics off the top of my head but I've seen that kind of stuff on news reports. Like I saw Fauci list a bunch of pre-existing conditions during some kind of press conference and I've heard the age range listed. I remember it was slightly older than me but that's all I recall. The information is out there.

You know it's interesting to see what people are afraid of. I had trips scheduled to attend one training course next week as a student and attend another training course the week of March 23 as an instructor. The big concern I've seen expressed by potential attendees isn't worrying about whether they'll get sick. It's whether they could end up getting stuck at the course locations by virtue of being quarantined.

And, I must admit, once I saw people saying that it's the thing I would be the most worried about. I have not been worried about getting sick at all. But once people started citing the quarantine concern I thought, "You know, that WOULD suck."

So far the one scheduled for down the road in New Orleans next week has been postponed while the one scheduled for the week of March 23 in Long Beach, CA, has not. Go figure. My bet is that early next week I'll hear that the one in Long Beach is postponed as well as people are really freaking out.

Miguel Ángel Benítez was hospitalized at the Virgen del Rocio Hospital in Seville, where he received lopinavir-ritonavir, an antiretroviral drug sold under the brand name Kaletra, according to Metro UK, which cited El Pais.

The drug — which has been used to treat HIV and AIDS for over 10 years — was combined with interferon beta, a protein that prevents cells from becoming infected and is used on people with multiple sclerosis patients, the news outlet reported.

That's not a vaccine. As you know, the idea of a vaccine is that it trains your body's immune system to quickly recognize the invader and it has already developed antibodies. Treatment subsequent to infection is not the same thing. The idea of a vaccine is that if the virus enters your body you will not NEED treatment because your body, prepared by the vaccine, will eliminate the invader and you will not develop the disease.

There is also the question of whether the guy would've recovered without the treatment. There is no way they can know about that. In order to show that the drug is effective in TREATING the disease (as opposed to vaccinating against it) there would have to be clinical trials to show that there is a difference between the recovery rate of those treated and those not treated.

This does not compromise the statement about the glaring ignorance Trump displayed at all.

Defintitely lower lethality. Despite the the #s in the US testing positive being in the 300s now, I’m sure there are thousands in the US with it who just haven’t been tested. 15 dead. Lots of people saying 3.4% mortality rate is bogus.

Dr on Fox Business was saying the S Koreans have tested over 200k people. Tracker site now shows 6767 infected, 44 dead. That is a fatality rate of about .6%- marginally higher than the flu.
