Who are these 'Karens' that people started talking about seems like a month or 2 ago?

Karen's have been around much longer than that. From wikipedia: a woman perceived to be entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is considered appropriate or necessary.

Karens are the typical white woman that wants to speak to the manager b/c her sweet tea isn't sweet enough or some other bullshit. Currently, it's a white woman that throws a hissy fit b/c she has to wear a mask in a store.

I don't remember seeing the term being thrown around before June or maybe May..

We discussed that already. During the run on masks, TP, disinfectant, etc, Fauci said it was to conserve mask for the hospitals and other workers deemed to be critical. Meanwhile, US businesses were sending boatloads of mask to Korea and China. It appears the Korea shipments worked, China is undetermined.

He wanted to reserve them for the medical community but that’s not the same as him saying they aren’t necessary. With a shortage of PPE, a determination had to be made - Gen Pop it the medical community who will more than likely come into contact with an infected person. The decision was obvious.
