Who are these 'Karens' that people started talking about seems like a month or 2 ago?
Karen's have been around much longer than that. From wikipedia: a woman perceived to be entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is considered appropriate or necessary.

Karens are the typical white woman that wants to speak to the manager b/c her sweet tea isn't sweet enough or some other bullshit. Currently, it's a white woman that throws a hissy fit b/c she has to wear a mask in a store.
I don't remember seeing the term being thrown around before June or maybe May..

It was more of a sub-culture term before COVID I think.

like a good liberal, avoiding the real issue and placing blame where it doesn't belong.
I blame anyone who unnecessarily endangers their community. Including lib friends who dine in and have a houseful of their kid’s friends over or large family gatherings, as well as all the conservative Karen’s who are “done with this disease and are gonna just live their life and there ain’t no commie governor gonna force me to wear a mask because FREEDOM!!!!”
Those aren't "Karens". Karens are the ones who are policing the grocery stores and city parks and beaches and public-shaming anyone who deigns to go against their self-prescribed mandate and what THEY believe is "right". Shouting down, videoing, bossing, harassing, calling the cops on these "violators" etc., etc.

First, I'm so over this whole Karen shit. It's run its course. But I was trying to figure out who has more Karens, the left or the right and it seems like a pretty even split to me. I've watched far too many of those videos on social media.
Agreed.

They said that...then new information came out and they changed course. Why are Republicans so against people changing their positions based on new, better information?

Besides, Trump was pretty anti-mask. Now it's "patriotic" to wear one. Going forward, I assume you're going to include when you bring up Fauci and the SG?

It's interesting that you call men with medical backgrounds "experts" and you don't trust them. But when it comes to Trump, you'll follow him blindly when he talks about the pandemic, even when he's wrong and proven to be wrong. You are consistently inconsistent.

We discussed that already. During the run on masks, TP, disinfectant, etc, Fauci said it was to conserve mask for the hospitals and other workers deemed to be critical. Meanwhile, US businesses were sending boatloads of mask to Korea and China. It appears the Korea shipments worked, China is undetermined.

That's not an accurate statement sticky. They lied back then because they didn't want a shortage of PPE for healthcare workers. It's indisputable.

https://thehill.com/changing-america/we ... wear-masks
He also acknowledged that masks were initially not recommended to the general public so that first responders wouldn’t feel the strain of a shortage of PPE.

He explained that public health experts "were concerned the public health community, and many people were saying this, were concerned that it was at a time when personal protective equipment, including the N95 masks and the surgical masks, were in very short supply.”

By early April, the Strategic National Stockpile had been depleted, and around the same time President Trump invoked the Defense Production Act to have manufacturing chains across the U.S. focus on making vital medical equipment such as ventilators and masks.

Fauci continued to say that they wanted to give as many masks as possible to front line workers and emergency personnel.

“We wanted to make sure that the people, namely the health care workers, who were brave enough to put themselves in a harm way, to take care of people who you know were infected with the coronavirus and the danger of them getting infected,” Fauci concluded.

He wanted to reserve them for the medical community but that’s not the same as him saying they aren’t necessary. With a shortage of PPE, a determination had to be made - Gen Pop it the medical community who will more than likely come into contact with an infected person. The decision was obvious.

Besides - Trump was against them before he was for them. So I don’t want to hear any bullshit about Fauci or the SG.
