You do know that old chestnut doesn't automagically win any argument involving the Yankees, right

No, he doesn't know that. Yankee fans think WS titles are their birthright.

Is that why you are a Yankee fan? Are you a Cowboys fan too? Or did you recently switch to the Steelers?
For that matter, shouldn't you be a Richmond fan now?

Really?

Lee/Sabathia is a toss-up. But Hamels seems to be pitching hurt, and Pedro is a shadow of his former self.

Having a song written about you doesn't make you all that. Think about that one.

To be honest, I'm a Philly fan so I defend them. Like it or not. I'm really not a big fan of cities, per se. I grew up in farm country and avoid cities when I can. Don't really live in Austin and avoid heading down there as much as I can.

You're really having issues with this Joe. I can send you one of my vicodins if you like. :thumb:

and I still don't like Sinatra, deal with it.

(and we love pulling your chain. I can see you getting pinstripes, head to toe, as you read these posts)
You think this bothers me? Really?

If Hamels were pitching anywhere near his last-season form, I might even give to the nod to Philly right now.

At no point this season has Hamels resembled the pitcher he was last year. I just don't know that he can find it now.

And I think Pettitte at this point is a measurably better pitcher than Pedro Martinez. Martinez was the best of his era, by far, but even in his best days, he had some problems with the Yankees.

As it stands right now, the pitching matchups look pretty even, with perhaps a slight edge to the Yanks. Lee/Sabathia is a draw, Hamels/Burnett have both been disappointingly average this postseason, and while Martinez shined in his start in LA, I'd rather have Pettite.

I'd easily choose the Phils' bats over the Yanks. The Phils have been the very definition of clutch for three seasons now. The Yanks have been the opposite. Sure, A-Rod has looked good so far this postseason, but there's plenty of time left for choking. You have to wonder if that doesn't start creeping into his mind a little this week. A tense brain makes for a lousy hitter.

I'm well aware of that. They sell it here (downstate Delaware). There are enough greasy transplants from that hellhole that have moved down here, and apparently they demand to bring their garbage with them.

It would be like me, as a Michigan fan, boasting about all our titles, even those they are old as fuck.

Apology accepted-in advance.

And let me be clear---I do NOT have a dog in this fight. Thus, from a non-biased third party's perspective, there's NO CLEAR ADVANTAGE to the Yankees in this series. Cliff Lee & Sabathia have been unhittable, Pettite's been good, but Martinez looked wicked in his only post season start, and Burnett & Hamel have been decidedly average.

But, I stand by my assertion: I'd take Howard/Utley/Rollins over Rodriguez/Texiera/Jeter ALL DAY LONG.

I said it when Phillie whipped the Dbacks after the all-star break....This team is LOADED.

You have two first ballot Hall of Famers on the Yankees list; and if you would take Howard over Texiera, you haven't watch Tex play defense. Prior to this year, the best defensive first basemen I ever saw were, in order, Keith Hernandez and Don Mattingly. From what I saw this year, Donnie Baseball is now No. 3.

I would call Howard average. Very solid at what's in his range, but not a very rangy fielder.
