Who is GCU??
A "private Christian university" in Phoenix. Just started D-I hoops a year or two ago. Former Phoenix Sun Dan Majerle is the coach.

Yeah, didn't see that coming. Kansas hasn't looked dominant this year, but Temple hasn't looked greateither. Of course, Temple's one of those teams that can peak at the right time as the year goes on, so they could be something when it matters come March.
I think one of the big schools
will catch a first round upset. You agree???

2014-2015 may become the season of the mid-major....
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

Bizarro land in the Big East on Saturday.

Nova lost to SHU.

SJU lost to Butler.

And Xavier lost to Depaul.

Depaul is now 2-0 in the Big East.

Harvard beats St. Rose 84-38. Why did they even schedule this game?

I don't see it - heck, this is almost the season of the big time schools. And frankly, the top 8 right now, especially the top 5 or so, look as dominant as any top 5 have looked in awhile. Kentucky and Duke are fantastic teams, Virginia is very good, as is Arizona, Gonzaga, Wisconsin, and Louisville. And those teams brought back a lot from last year so they have experience as well. March is still a long way away, but those teams look a clear cut better than the pack right now.

Agreed. If you look at the current top 25, only a few non BCS/Big East schools in there. Gonzaga always falls short of being great in the tourney, Wichita State and VCU have made their runs in the tourney and could make some noise again but don't seem to be as strong as in the past with VCU losing its only really tough games of the year and Wichita's 1 good win is against an increasingly better Seton Hall team. ODU is looking good this year but hasn't and won't face anyone very good outside of VCU until the tourney.

Gonzaga does seem to always fall short, but you got to hand it to them, they're there every year. And this year they are big and good in the paint, something they haven't been very much in the past as they've relied on 3pt shooters who flame out in the tourney. Might be Gonzaga's best team since the Calvary/Santangelo team that broke onto the scene something like 16 years ago. They were every bit as good as Arizona was a few weeks ago. Will see if that holds up into March.

Best team ever for UNI Clenz? I don't rememeber them ever winning more than a game and they usually don't make the tourney.

Um...

UNI was in the s16 in 2010...remember...had a 17 game win streak, finished #13 in the final poll...they beat they #1 team in the country...finishes the season 35-5...lost a heart breaker to Michigan State in the S16...cover of sports illustrated?

Best? I don't know. That 09-10 teams was very...very good. This team is very close to that level though. Very, very, close.

I was looking at the AP (where they are 26) but I do see they went top 25 in the Coaches and do have a very good team as well.

Ranked 3 of the last 4 in the AP poll.

Fell to 26 this past week but stayed in the coaches

I do look at Kentucky everyone is picking them as final 4 material but to me they look vulnerable Columbia lost to them by 10 56-46, Ole Miss recently took them to the wire losing 89-88.Louisville played them tough as well.

Don't mention Gonzaga still royally pissed at Southern for blowing major opportunity for pulling upset on them during '13 tournament!!!!!

They're bored. Just like last year. Once March comes they'll start playing for real. I don't actually like Kentucky, but it's hard not to admit they are really good.

Hard to believe a team with a bunch of Freshman are bored 15 games into their first college basketball season. But if that's the case, and their interest and concentration is that low, they will probably lose again just like last year.

We will see in two months as you said.If they are that good they should have crushed Columbia, Ole Miss like they did UCLA!!!!

This is a much better Kentucky team than last year's team. At this point last year, they were 1-3 against teams that were ranked when they played them having beaten Louisville and losing to UNC, Baylor and Michigan State. Going into the NCAA tourney, they were 1-6 against teams that were ranked when they played them losing 3 times to Florida as well.

They'll likely lose a game or 2 somewhere but the majority of their first 10 (9 now that Poythress got injured for the year) could be in the NBA next year. Remember they have already beaten the current #12 ranked Kansas team by 32, current #10 ranked Texas squad by 12, current #18 UNC by 14, and current #5 Louisville by 8. They are stepping it up in the games that matter to them. Only Arkansas out of the rest of the SEC is ranked at #23 so they can afford to relax right now and have fun until the tourney.

Does this mean they'll be undefeated? No. Just means that they have been stepping it up so far when it counts and relaxing in some of the other games.
