What am I avoiding? I’m anti-protest too. I think everyone just needs to go the fuck home for a few weeks.
You’ve lost your humor in the past few weeks, klam. I understand the recent health challenges, but good grief. Look at 93’s example. He’s back feistier than ever!

You might be anti-protest but you focus your criticism on more right-wing events like Sturgis. Many on the right are at least being consistent in being against restrictions and for opening things up. The left is being hypocritical when then criticize events like Sturgis but give the protests a pass. The reality is that from a public health perspective, all large gatherings are idiotic and should be criticized.
There’s plenty of criticism that has been leveled (I think there was a recent thread on this involving Trip ) at the left including their role in the protests. Agree the left is hypocritical. They’re not alone.

Face it, without us CS libs it would mostly be one giant circle jerk.
About time that you admit you to being a lib (not that that's a bad thing) and not a post-partisan.

When has Trip ever criticized the left except to complain that they're not progressive enough. He's a walking poster child for a combination of the French & Cultural Revolution.

It would be a circle jerk without you and not nearly as much fun.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

The opening night of the Republican National Convention drew a far smaller audience than the Democrats did last week, with viewers tumbling on every major broadcast and cable network except the Fox News Channel.

About 17 million people tuned in to watch the convention Monday, according to data Nielsen released Tuesday, based on 11 channels. That was down from the 19.7 million who watched the first night of the Democratic convention.

:ohno: Why do they step on their dicks like that? It's like they can't help it. They have to screw themselves. Criticize the RNC for having nutjobs like Mary Ann Mendoza speak (then pulled when they realized that her anti-semitism is bad for business). Or Abby Johnson who advocates household voting. Or the Qanon believers that are slated to speak (or have spoken).

And while they're at it, criticize the DNC for having Linda Sarsour speak last week. They are all biased hypocrites with ZERO integrity.
And the donks also had as one of their speakers Donna Hylton, convicted of murder & kidnapping for taking part in the kidnapping, rape, torture & murder of a NY businessman.

Yeah I’m that too. One is philosophical, the other is where you fall on the perceived left-right spectrum of US politics.

You have some liberal traits too btw. Even if they’re begrudgingly admitted with a snarl much of the time.

I watched Pence speak. My favorite part was when he took credit for Veterans Choice - which was signed into law by Obama. That's just awesome.

I'm sure CNN or MSNBC is fact-checking every night. Has anyone read to see how true or false the statements are? I'm pretty sure it's as bad as the DNC convention.

At this point, just about the only person I would trust to objectively fact check anything at all would be maybe Chris Wallace

If someone at one of these conventions said the earth was flat, then maybe CNN could credibly fact check that but not much else

No. The first night, including online viewing has the RNC with 17.8M viewers compared to the DNCs first night of 20.5M viewers. That's a delta of 2.6M. I see the article I read yesterday has been updated to show that the RNC had about 400K more tv viewers on night 2. So it's 1-1.
The first night of the Republican National Convention attracted nearly 3 million fewer viewers than the opening of the Democratic National Convention, according to numbers by Nielsen.

About 17 million viewers tuned in to the GOP convention’s first night on Monday, compared with 19.7 million viewers on the first night of the Democrats’ event a week prior. The Republican event’s numbers account for 11 broadcast and cable networks that carried the convention live from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Democrats’ numbers account for 10 networks that carried the convention during that time slot last week.

The numbers do not account for online streaming, which has become an increasingly popular method of viewing political events. The Republican convention’s official YouTube channel garnered a little more than 342,000 views on its Day 1 live stream, and C-SPAN’s stream of the first night got just over 534,000 views. Meanwhile, the Democrats’ official YouTube live stream on the first day got more than 750,000 views, while C-SPAN’s live stream got just over 77,000 views. A number of other outlets streamed the conventions on YouTube and elsewhere, including PBS, ABC and USA Today.
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/2 ... dnc-401697

RNC - 17,000,000 (cable) + 876,000 (online) = 17,876,000
DNC - 19,700,000 + 827,000 = 20,527,000
