2005 was a lifetime ago. And if we're counting moral victories then the Griz went 11-0 last year.

No doubt, but Lafayette has a history of playing well against teams they shouldn't beat. I am arguing that we will be competitive not victorious, and my points illustate a competive history is such games.

Frank, a good friend of mine is a Pard grad and I'd love NOTHING more than to see you guys stick one to these arrogant motherfuckers from NDSU....but the general consensus is that all JBB is doing is prepping his case for when NDSU does NOT roll Laughayette by 24....I mean lets be real: a 2-9 team versus a team that by all rights should have won the national title if it weren't for red turf, cow bells, crooked refs and a conspiracy to hate them.

Right- we Patriot league fans understand who we are. We are among the worst conferences in FCS, but we have several teams that are competitive FCS squads. At times our better teams can win a game in the playoffs, or knock off a team from a power conference.

NDSU is a bit of a reach game for us, but we welcome the challenge of a top team. If we play like we did at times last year it will be a rough day, but I think our t
eam is much improved and will make a worthy opponent. This is not a case of two teams that don't belong on the same field like Montana and Ft. Lewis.

Thats another thing that has disturbed me. Many fans from schools doing the inter-divisional ft. lewis thing are condeming this game because they say Lafayette has no scholarships. Thanks for debunking that Franks and thanks for speaking up in support of the Leopards and the PL.

And that was last year, where we had serious injury and depth issues at many positions. Lehigh was 4-7 in 2009 and downright dysmal at times. The rebounded in 2010 to go 10-3 and win a playoff game. I dont think the Leopards will go 10-3, but nobody should be surprised if the game is competitive.

Both Franks Tanks and TU Owl have come in to rebut the insulting claims that Lafayette has no football tradition. Everyone has acknowledged they were 2-9 last season, which is the exception and not the rule, but hardly anyone is acknowledging they have a lot of key guys coming back on both sides of the ball. A lot of these guys were freshman on the 2009 team that strung 5 wins together. Those are all facts not opinion.

The elite program registry is a sound system for analyzing and ranking programs based on the qualities identified as necessary to make a program elite. It has long been used to identify elite programs. Several corollaries have been constructed to allow the approach to yield winners not only on a game basis but seasonal and over time as well.

Actually the NDSU secondary is expected to be very good. Several players of NFL abilities.

I think we can now all agree

1) The game is of national importance, on the level of a spotlight game
2) Lafayette has a rich football tradition
3) Expect a competitive Lafayette squad
4) Expectations for a sell-out are well founded
5) The elite college football registry points to a clash of traditions and commitment to the game over time with the intent to be competitive. It should be a whale of a game.
