#8 Lehigh "Upsets" #4 Cornell, 15-15.
Mountain Hawks roared back from 9-0 and 15-9 deficits to tie The Big Red in Ithaca tonight. Some very close bouts that with a little luck or 'non-homer' whistle could have reeled in the win. But splitting 5-5 bouts with Cornell with two national champs in their lineup isn't bad. Two major highlights were #19 ranked, freshman Hamlin losing to #1 ranked Lewnes, 3-2, and #18 Kennedy beating #4 ranked Simaz in 2OTs! Soph. Hatchett at 165 was whistled for a stall warning with 9 seconds left and then, again, with 1 second left to send the match with Kerber into OT, with Kerber winning, 5-3. Very rare to see a ref call stalling twice within 10 seconds, a judgement call. Tie leaves Lehigh at 11-3-1 on the season with the next dual meet on February 5, at home, against Virginia Tech.

Wow, that is tight. All 10 matches decided by decision, doesn't get any closer. How is David Craig doing this year? I haven't kept up Lehigh this year.ngineer wrote:Mountain Hawks roared back from 9-0 and 15-9 deficits to tie The Big Red in Ithaca tonight. Yes, can't get any closer. NO 'tie-breaker' criteria. Craig is doing much better in this , his last year. Record is about 13-2 or so. He almost got a major tonight. Was winning 10-4 and tried a desperate takedown to secure the 8 point margin, but got countered, to lose 10-6. Seems to have his head screwed on better. Has been very solid if not flashy. One of three seniors (Fisk and Ciasulli the other two). I think they all realize this is it for getting on the podium in Omaha.BlueHen86 wrote:Wow, that is tight.
