Greece?

Post by grizzaholic »

Does Greece not matter? Will all the talk of BP and BIG OIL, Catholics and Bandl's soon to be baby superhornet, I think Greece has been lost in the fray.

I don't care but it seems to have an effect on the market and the EURO has fallen. Time to travel to Europe and take advantage of the better exchange rate. :thumb:

I guess I could flee to Greece if my wife has a SuperHornet. At least it would be cheap. And the food is pretty good too. Although I do get some nasty farts if I eat too much garlic. Hmmm.........

Greece, by itself, does not merit the attention it is getting...

But the dominos that will start falling (Portugal, Spain for example) if Greece falls sends shivers down my spine...

Spain, for example, is the third largest ecomony in euro-land...that's big stuff... and the two countries I mentioned are teetering on the edge and could fall right behind Greece...

Throw Ireland in the mix too - they were a powerhouse for a while, but they're in the same spot as the PIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Spain). If they fall, you know the French will drop their rifles too so there will be a huge ripple effect worldwide - think Asian banking crisis scale.

Meh, we're getting pretty good at those. Each one has been better than the last. I can't wait to see where we end up.

So you're saying it might be time to sell my stocks and build the compound? I've been waiting for my signal.

I was told I needed a new avatar. I just googled avatar and that was the first one that came up. Give me one and I will put it in there.

First, BANDL!!!! You hijacking motherfucker! There I told you! ;)

ASU, there was none but in a thread a while ago I was told that I needed to have an avatar so I went and got the first one that popped up on the google search. Didn't know it upset SCBH so much. So either someone here has to give me a new avatar OR, everyone here must change their avatars to clowns to help get SCBH over his phobia of clowns. :thumb:

What's funny is I basically did the same thing as grizza. I typed in avatar and was going to go with the first one that made me laugh. Mine is called 'Excited Dog!', which gave me a chuckle.

Ah, a mere downdraft, me lad! Consider it a buying opportunity!

It finished down "only" 347.

Dow dive could've been a trading glitch - fat-fingering a B instead of an M: http://www.cnbc.com/id/36999483" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But Greece? Simple answer - paychecks and pension checks to govt. workers will be cut - riot all you want to, but at the end of the day the workers get less money - deal with it or find a better paying job in the private sector...

Q: Why do Greek men hate to leave the mother country?

A: Because they were reared there, and they hate to leave their little brothers behind! 8-)

Easier said than done, considering the public sector accounts for, I think, over 60% of all jobs...

Greece could be a problem if the underlying problem (spending way more money than you have) continues. The world went all Keynesian with the most recent recession and in most cases (and not surprisingly) it didn't work. Now we have all this debt and we don't have the growth to go along with it to get rid of the debt. These austerity measures may have to happen in a lot of other places if we're not able to control spending in various countries, and that could even eventually be the case in the US as well.
