NEW LOUISIANA/MISSISSIPPI FCS CONFERENCE

Post by MRGEMINI1976 »

Do you all think that McNeese State, Southern, Grambling State, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, Alcorn State, Jackson State, and Northwestern State would make up a good conference? If so, do you all think that it could happen in the future?

I think it would be a great conference. Problem is the money those teams make from their "Classic" games. Lots of money and it would be hard for 1/2 of a conference to not participate in the playoffs but I would love to see those teams participate

Most of these teams would still have their classic games. Southern vs Grambling State in the Bayou Classic, Jackson State vs Alcorn State in the Capital City Classic and there are four other colleges in the state of Louisiana who would have big rivalries also. Also these colleges could play a couple of non-conference game schedules also.

technically the only issue would be the Bayou Classic having to be moved which most people know isn't happening. any other classic would be a ooc game so I don't see how that would be a problem

Yep, I see the Bayou Classic having to move because MSU, SLU and NWS would not stand for not being playoff eligible and/or a participant. Especially MSU.
And what about the Turkey Day Classic? How would you move that one? (or would it really matter?)

And do you replace MSU, NWS and SLU in the SLC with PVA&M and TSU?
(don't see that happening)

that game wouldn't be affected, neither of the teams are included in his idea. In reality I couldn't really see this happening especially with concerns over Nicholls even being open and Southern and McNeese have had their issues. And that's beside the Bayou Classic issue.
