Toronto Blue Jay infielder John McDonald lost his father to cancer last week. McDonald had been away from the team on bereavement leave for about a week and a half and was with his father when he passed.
Prior to his death his father told his son to hit his next home run for him... easier said then done for a hitter with just 13 home runs in over 1900 career plate appearances.
McDonald rejoined his team yesterday and came into the game in the ninth inning as a pinch hitter trailing 9-3.
He did his father proud and hit him a home run on fathers day.

Nice story but...it is as easy said as done, since your next home run is always your next home run.UNHWildCats wrote:Toronto Blue Jay infielder John McDonald lost his father to cancer last week. Seriously though, it is a nice story.

Just glad that this story wasn't about UNH.
